Amon Amarth is the band I shove at people when they ask why I like metal. Start here, then go to Maiden, Black Sabbath and the first two Metallica albums. If at that point they are not at least curious about the art form, I can say that I tried.
Aw, but half the fun of introducing people to music is meeting them where they are, and metal is pretty unique in that there is something adjacent to where anyone is. Electronic music? Industrial metal is there for you. Classic rock? The stoners have you covered. Go to renaissance festivals? Folk metal loves you and wants you to be happy. Hear "thac0" and don't think "mexican food"? Every power metal band ever is right there with you. Hip-Hop? Not all nu metal sucks.
I recently discovered Milo Greene's self titled album, and it is amazing. Start to finish fantastic.
I can't get over this. It's not just a song, it's an experience [NSFW]... and try to sit through the whole thing, there's about 20 seconds of "fun" that are pretty rough to endure - bfv, you might just be the only one to see this post. Tell me, do you feel blessed or cursed?
dude kazoo kid is everywhere and i can't figure out where he came from but i love him
Last night I checked out more of Mike Diva's productions and immediately subscribed. The "GRRL SCOUTS" bit was so well done. Kazoo kid finally got him the spotlight he deserved.
I found a great post-hardcore band called Cut Teeth: https://cutteethband.bandcamp.com/. I'm loving their album Night Years. The drumming is superb. I also found a great space rock band called Lybria: https://lybria.bandcamp.com/. It has a huge Failure influence, but it also has its own sound.
