I'm always interested in what upcoming games people are looking forward to. Personally, I'm excited for Firewatch, Hyper Light Drifter, and the new Deus Ex game, Mankind Divided. The storytelling looks interesting in Firewatch, I love the cyberpunk style that Mankind Divided has going on, and HLD's art is beautiful. What games are you guys interested in? Any games in particular you feel like others should know about?
It's mainstream, but Fallout 4. That game alone makes me want to craft a PC Gaming desktop.
You should build a PC, I just built my first one a few months ago. There is a weird pride that comes from building your own PC and gaming on a PC is fantastic. Check out PCPartPicker.com to help you select parts, it makes sure that they are all compatible for you and shows you where they are cheapest. Message me if you want any help building it.
My brother swears by PCPartPicker, I'll be there soon once I get the money.
Not the same user you replied to but I want to build a new PC pretty cheap that will be able to run both the new Fallout game and Dark Souls 3. If I wanted to replace my current rig with everything new (except keyboard/mouse/monitor/speakers) could I do it with a $300-400 budget? It doesn't need to run max settings but I want to give my current rig to someone else so I will need to replace most items.
sure you could do it, after a quick look on PC Part Picker, here is a build https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/kYNnTW/the-ultimate-console-killer by all means look at other build created by users on the website, or take some time and do some research to make your own build.
I'm not advocating this or saying that I have ever done this, but it's not difficult to get a windows OS torrent download and install it without any problems whatsoever. One has to be wary of viruses and whatnot of course. You're probably aware of this, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
I would most definitely recommend building a computer. I built one a year ago, and I have never been so happy with a purchase. There is just so much freedom with a PC that consoles just can't match. Don't get me wrong though consoles are still an awesome platform.
Yeah. Fallout 4 is the only game on my list. I'm still trying to figure out if I should get a console or if I should spend money on a PC to run it. Other than that, not much. I'm kind of tired of games. I do browse GOG.com from time to time though, to see what classics I can get a deal on and take a walk down memory lane.
Ohhhhh man I could go for HOURS talking to someone about Fallout 4. I'm so excited for EVERYTHING new in that game. I never know where to start and I never know where/when to end. My girlfriend and I are saving up to get a PS4 though, just because we could both play on the system.
For me the defining moment while playing Fallout 3 happened while I'm on the National Mall looking at the Washington Monument and I look at my Pipboy to see where I need to go next. As it turns out I need to go to the Museum of Technology. Well, I've been to DC. I've been to the National Mall. I've been to the Museum of Technology and I know where it is, so I went straight to it. There's something about that experience that just made the game so much more real for me. And now, as a life long Masshole, I get to play in Boston? Fuck yeah.
I got so immersed in Fallout 3 it wasn't funny. I got home from school and played it until bedtime. I was crazy about it. And all I did in the game was run around and exploring/looting places. I'm replaying the game now and I'm finding so many new things in it that I wonder sometimes how much of the game I missed. Can't wait for the Boston! And new Power Armor! And-
Wish I could too. I use Android so I'm still waiting for the game to release....
It's supposedly coming out in August for Android. I have an iPhone and imo, it works better than my old Android phones. Both Androids had huge glitches with them. The second one I had somehow deleted it's own freaking serial number (or whatever it was, can't remember). Fallout Shelter, however, is a fun game imo. I play it when I'm just sitting around doing nothing.
Wow, It's been the exact opposite for me . I have had 3 iPhones break on me (internal things like software glitches, the charging port malfunctioning and the wifi receiver frying to name a few) and the only Android that has broken on me was from me accidentally frying the charging port when I was messing with things. I like the freedom that Android gives you and the fact that there easier to fix (for me) if they break but to each his own.
I think when I upgrade I'm moving to an android phone. I'm reaching this newfound level of maturity where I don't need to follow the Apple hype train, and I'm excited about it.
I never liked apple because when I was younger I could play all my games on a windows desktop. I could not wrap my head around the fact people were paying double for a computer that had half the features of windows. Now they do have more options now that multiplatforming has become big but still I rather have more than less for the money spent on it.
Yes, I worry about this too. I've seen some very excited No Man's Sky communities and I think a big deal here is how easy it is to confuse procedurally generated content with "immense content". Procedural generation is about introducing variations, but it still needs a hand crafted set to pick from. Otherwise the universe can well be packed with stuff, but in boring variations. If you roll a dice, there are usually six possibilities for the outcome, but you're still just looking at a dice. So I try to be cautiously optimistic about the game. I of course want it to succeed, but I try to keep in mind that this will still just be a computer game from a small game developer company with limited resources. In the end, I think it will be a game similar to a "god game" or maybe a Roguelike, or something like that. A sandbox game which can be fun to spend some time with now and then. I don't think it will revolutionize the industry and I don't think procedural generation will. It is not even a new concept.
Every time I hear mention of the game Spore, I think part of me dies. Such a missed opportunity. Civilization V does really well as a substitute for the the civilization stage (duh) of it though.
I'm kind of in the same boat as you, but the fact that there will be so much to explore and it all will be somewhat different gives me hope. In the end it'll at least be a fun game to jump into and find a new planet to explore for an hour.
Me too. Much of the discussion around the game is "what do you DO???" Honestly, I'd be happy if the game is just high fidelity Proteus in space. Give me an interesting universe to explore, relax, and see pretty things. I can listen to podcasts and walk around in Minecraft survival mode and have a good time stumbling across interesting things. Anything No Man's Sky gives me beyond that is gravy. The footage I saw from E3 seems like the game may in fact have a bit more meat on it's bones, which is exciting. I'm hoping for more, but my expectations are pretty low as far as features and systems, just give me a pretty space to fly around in and explore.
I switched from Xbox 360 to PS4 this generation and I never played a lot of the really good PS3 classics, so I'm actually pretty excited to try the Nathan Drake Collection. Also I'm really excited for Mass Effect: Andromeda whenever it comes out. I'm hoping it's more in line with the original game in terms of that feeling of exploration and discovery that you get hopping around the galaxy, instead of the narrow feeling I got during the third one.
One game I'm looking forward to is Cuphead. I'm not sure if it's coming to pc or not, but I hope it does. The animation looks incredible. Other games I'm looking forward to are Fallout 4 and Metal Gear Solid V. Also, No Man's Sky, but I have no idea how far away that game is from release.
Zelda Wii U for sure. Dark Souls 3, and Fallout 4 when I got a computer that can run it. I might also grab the new fire emblem game once I finish awakening. My anticipated games have been shrinking lately due to circumstances involving college/job stuff.
Awakening is actually really good. Some of the issues I had with the previous games have been addressed in this game and it's still a tough cookie to beat. The game plays a little like pokemon with hard strengths and weaknesses and you really do need to focus on having a good varied team. I like the fact you can pair units up together (either a tile next to them or join them together on the same tile) to give your units a slight boast in accuracy and dodging. Sometimes the team up characters will cancel out all damage and even give a 2nd support attack by the paired unit. The problem I've so far is I have permadeath on normal mode and it's kicking my butt on mission 19. I think I'm going to start my game over so I can actually finish it on easy because I think I hit a huge difficulty spike. The game really makes you question every decision you make. I like the permadeath option because you really need to be careful of where you place your units. It can be terribly frustrating to be near the end of a mission, only to carelessly leave one of your units in a spot where there is no way to save them. You can avoid this by checking all the unit's attack range. You can turn permadeath off if you want but only at the start of the game. Also with weapon durablitiy means you need to save your best weapons for the right times. With extra battles, it gives you a chance to level up your characters and get additional gold so you can purchase new weapons so durability isn't a big issue. I love the fact you can upgrade your weapons as well but its very expensive. A neat thing I noticed is there is two upgrade items for your characters. One will rank them to the next special class that makes them really powerful at level 10 (like evolution in pokemon) the other will change their class to something else. Each class I believe has at least 2 special ranks to choose from and again repeats the theme of hard choices. Story is actually pretty good. A little predictable but I haven't gotten to the 3rd part of the game yet which I want to. Each mission takes about 30-60 minutes to complete with 30 story missions. This doesn't include the dialogue and other planning phases. I haven't even touched the additional DLC. So you are getting a game with at least 30 hours of gameplay and maybe much longer depending how long you take to finish each match. I'd get Awakening as soon as you can because Fire Emblem games tend to disappear and rise in price. I think there might be an eshop purchase so it might not be that bad but if you want a physical copy then you need to grab it while you can. What I'm excited about the next game is online battles. It would actually give more reason to play the game because now you can compete with other players. Also I hear it will have two separate stories which means you need to play the game twice to fully enjoy everything.
Tom Clancy the Division WAIT before you read another comment about a different game--let me try to get your attention on this game.
First off, I'm not a person who summarizes well than most people out there who are hyping this game up so much, or die-hard fans; but to get the full experience, you must watch the trailers and the gameplay.
This game is an RPG-style experience. You're an agent trying to save what remains from the outbreak of a massive and deadly virus that could not be contained in New York. (From my thinking, I'm sure it had spread globally). This caused the stock market to crash, cause millions of deaths, food, water, resource shortages, and much more horrible outcomes. Now it's your responsibility to fight other agents or team up to save what has been left.
Feeling pretty pumped for this game already? So am I :D
One I haven't seem mentioned here yet is Firewatch. It's written by the guys behind season 1 of Telltale's Walking Dead game and supported by a really strong team. The trailers have been very intriguing and the game is absolutely gorgeous. Many of the guys are on the Idle Thumbs podcast, which I've listened to from it's inception, and their ideas on game design and game writing align strongly with my own.
I'm a big Telltale fan, and this totally slipped under my radar, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one it looks very promising!
Rocket League is fantastic. A bunch of different vehicles with hats powered by rockets that spew rainbows while playing soccer in colorful arenas. Winning is fun. Losing is fun. Up to 4v4 multiplayer, servers between PC and PS4 are integrated, you can demolish opposing cars and fly through the air to score a goal. Your car can be fully customized with the items you unlock. DLC maps and items will be free when they are created. It will be free for PS+ and $20 for PC on July 7th. I'm so excited.
I was really pleased with several of the announcements at E3 this year - Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, Dark Souls 3, and I'm cautiously optimistic about Mass Effect 4. I'm also looking forward to Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, though after the way AC: Unity didn't live up to expectations I'll be waiting to see what others have to say about it before hopping on the bandwagon. I know they're all sequels, but I try not to get too excited about new franchises until they've been released and well-received. I'd never heard of Firewatch until I browsed an AskReddit thread about interesting/creepy experiences that park rangers and the like had encountered while out in the wilderness. Several people mentioned Firewatch, and after checking out the preview I have to say that I'm intrigued. BTW, that Reddit thread wound up getting a lot of submissions from rangers, campers, and other people who spend a lot of time out in nature. There were some very good submissions, and anyone interested can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/3b4ifn/serious_national_park_rangers_and_any_other/?sort=new Edit: I'm also looking forward to watching my husband play Just Cause 3. He had a ridiculous amount of fun with JC 2, and it was a joy to be around while he played it.
Fallout 4, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky and the FF VII remake. Out of all of them, I'm most excited for Fallout 4. I'll probably spend an obscene amount of time in character creation, sculpting faces and taking screenshots of them for character ideas. Of course, there's the weapon customization (and actually seeing your choices reflected visually) and the ability to build your own settlement. I also like the fact that the game would start off chipper. It's quite different than what I'm used to from Bethesda (at least with the games I have played from them). The fact that this game is coming out this year really helped push that excitement to the level it's at.
Mainly Mass Effect Andromeda, Fallout 4 and Trackmania Turbo.
Personally I am looking forward to The Witness. A first person puzzle game developed by Jonathan Blow, creator of Braid. The game looks like it is in the same vein as Myst. For a game that may or may not come out I'm also looking forward to ir/rational investigator. A spiritual successor to the flash game ir/rational redux. Made by the writer for the Swapper and Driver San Francisco. About an investigator who uses deductive logic to solve crimes. Another upcoming game in limbo is Flightless. A game where you control a bird with clipped wing to the exit of its prison. It's developed by Nitrome, a flash, and recently mobile developer.
The one I am most looking forward to right now is Final Fantasy 15 as well as the FF7 remake. I also am super hyped for the Vive and am looking forward to any games put out for that, as well as being able to play all my other games in VR.
Ghost Recon Wildlands - Check out the trailer. This game looks insanely fun if they do multiplayer right.
The new king's quest game looks amazing. http://www.sierra.com/kingsquest
Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition. I liked the base edition, but they really are fixing everything I didn't like.
The new Rainbow Six game, probably my favorite franchise of all time. I just love how you can only take 2-3 shots Before dying. The game makes you play it safe, hugging the walls, and perking around corners; it just adds that extra element of strategy I'm looking for in a shooting game.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I might break my no pre-orders rule for this game.
Really looking forward to Halo 5 as I've been getting back into the Halo games since I bought an Xbox One. It looks good, plot-wise. Also Fallout 4 looks like a game-changer for sure. And I've never played Doom but I saw the new gameplay of it for the Bethesda E3 panel and it looked dope. I gotta say even though it's a game everyone seems to love to hate, I'm probably still going to buy Black Ops 3 and wear it out like crazy.
I'm most excited for Overwatch! Though I still dearly love Team Fortress 2, the infusion of moba elements is just too exciting a prospect to not be hyped! Though I have reservations like most people do about the FOV, viewmodels, and especially the monetization (which still hasn't been decided) I cannot help but to get that fuzzy feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think of the beta's approach in the next few months.
Not a game, but I'm mainky looking forward to a kickass PS4 racing wheel by Logitech. In the meantime, I wish Sony would make the PS3 wheels--like the DFGT--PS4 compatible, but I think thats asking too much because capitalism is a double edged sword.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hype is over 9000.
Verily. I'm stoked to see their exploration of language and what impact that has in terms of thought and identity. Metal Gear Solid is definitely goofy but I appreciate that it at least tries to be something more while being goofy at the same time. It's a series of contradictions in many ways and I can appreciate that that puts people off sometimes but I really dig it.
I've been most looking forward to Star Citizen. Every time I see a new video for it I jump right back on that hype train. Though who knows when it'll actually get finished.
Fractured But Whole! I absolutely loved Stick of Truth, even if it was insanely easy. It was funny as hell and it made me feel like I was in the middle of an episode of South Park. Who could want anything more?
Torment: Tides of Numenera is the one I'm looking forward to most. My interest in RPGs is much more about living out a compelling story than about leveling up my characters in combat, and this game, like the original Planescape: Torment, seems to be taking an approach of, "Fighting is part of the game but it's not the focus, and you can avoid a lot of it entirely if you like."
Halo 5. Halo is the series that transformed me from an occasional video game player to a frequent gamer. I really enjoyed the beta, and I can't wait for the game to come out.
I'm looking forward to a lot of things. No Man's Sky has turned into a hype train and I fear it will be a disappointment, but it looks awesome. I'm also excited for Fallout 4, Firewatch and Rocket League on Tuesday. can't wait to hear a bit more about Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian. And I'm hoping Gearbox announces a Borderlands 3 soon.
Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but, Kingdom Hearts 3! I remember playing Kingdom Hearts & KH2 back in late elementary school and all throughout middle school. I have so many memories with these games and the fact that KH3 is coming in the near future excites me so much. I do need to work on getting me a next gen console though!
Fire Emblem: Fates and Elder Scrolls: Legends are probably the only two "big" games on my radar in the near future. I got pulled into Fire Emblem with Awakening and everything I've heard about the gameplay and difficulty seems like a massive step forward. As for Legends, I've always been curious about Hearthstone, but had zero-to-no investment in the Blizzard universe of IPs. Elder Scrolls though is probably the most influential game series I've ever had the pleasure of spending thousands of hours on, and I'm interested to see what Bethesda does with the strategy card game formula.
So many games to look forward to after E3! I made a long list of games that got my attention or IP's that have given me lots of enjoyment before. There were a lot of new IP's i've never heard of before E3 this year, and most of them seems kinda interesting. The game that is on top of my list, simply because of the passion from the developers and an heartwarming presentation at E3, is Unravel. It is a really cute puzzle platformer which looks both gorgeous and interesting. My second game would be either Cuphead or Firewatch. Cuphead looks amazing with its old-timey cartoon style, and its arcade gameplay. Other than these games, there's the new Doom, Fallout, and Dishonored, from E3. I have many more, but I'm still curious to more from them. Last but not least, I want to say "Yooka-Laylee" from Playtonic, a company formed by former Rare members. It's the spirutual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, and I can't even begin to describe how much I want it!
It most certainly was! Yes, Cuphead is designed like the old arcade games where you die all the time and have to pump in money to play more. I mostly liked the artstyle and music, as I'm not very good at keeping alive. For Doom I just hope it will deliver on what they promised, so it won't just feel like another FPS. I'm also looking forward to see how it will compare to Shadow Warrior 2,as they are roughly the same genrewith the same goal. I also didn't like the animation whenever you used the chainsaw to cut down enemies. Looked like it would get pretty infuriating to watch over and over, but I hope it was just to show off some awesome gore and executions during the Demo!
Black Desert, Wildstar F2P, and Fallout 4. I've been getting that MMO itch, but there's really nothing decent out there that I haven't already played to hell. ArcheAge was fantastic until the economy crashed because of new introductions to the cash shop. Black Desert is another Korean MMO coming out with some of the same sandbox features ArcheAge had, and the combat looks great. Fingers crossed for that one.
I'm excited for Mass Effect 4 and the Division mostly. Looking forward to Mighty No. 9 as well, and I suppose Legacy of the Void!
On the brightside, it's given me time to save up money for a new PC!
It'll be all the sweeter! Plus, at least for me, it'll give me time to properly finish grad school :D I remember when I first played Mass Effect and exploring the universe made me feel like a kid again, and the story and lore was amazing. Almost wish I could feel that way again with another playthrough. Particularly enjoyed the Volkov with frictionless materials, scram rail, and HE rounds-- a Widow before its time.
I, unfortunately, stopped playing competitive FPS games a while ago (e.g. CS, TFC, DoD), but I still enjoy FPS games and particularly the cooperative ones (e.g. Sven Coop, Rainbow Six series, Mass Effect 3's co-op mode). I was sad when Destiny found itself to be a console only title, so when I saw the Division, I got interested in it quick. Like you said, though, hopefully they do a nice job with it.
