This is the 104th weekly music thread, meaning the #weeklymusicthread had been going for two years now. On Wednesday it will have been exactly two years since flagamuffin posted the first .
Nothing new caught my eye this week. Have Jucifer - Model Year Blowout, off their first album and older than some Hubski users, instead. I first heard this song on a mix tape someone slipped into my school locker mumblemumblemumble years ago. I never figured out who it was from and for all I know it might have been meant for someone else. Loved the band ever since though.

I know we just celebrated 100 weeks, but two years earns a badge in my book! Last night we listened to Christmas music for the last time this year. Felt nice to put those records away. Chet Atkins Christmas got the most rotations this year. The least? She and Him Christmas. I dig some of their music but this was a bit much for me. We had a New Years Eve party this year and my friend Al, an avid music collector, brought over a bunch of records. Al would be a great addition to the Sunday music thread, I'll invite him. He has great taste. Congrats on two years! Thank you!! I'll leave you with some Sufjan, since we talked about him on Hubski this week. I listened to this record yesterday too:
my dad and I have been watching the Ken Burns Jazz documentaries. Jazz ignited my love of music, long before I ever was a rock musician or a classical musician.
I've been enjoying The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles & Fripp. It was Robert Fripp's first band before King Crimson. Supposedly they wanted to make money and get hits and it never happened for them, leading to Fripp saying fuck trying to be popular I'll just play crazy, thus King Crimson.
That means my year anniversary is coming up! My first comment and activity was on the 52nd! Anyways: Tom Jones - It's Not Unusual Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks Capital Cities - Safe and Sound
I looked in your profile, looks like your anniversary is tomorrow. Happy 1 year CHawk!
Thanks! It has been such a fast year. I have enjoyed every minute here and hope to have many more. Everyone here is awesome and you're all extremely nice people.
Lately? Or forever? Because I just picked up a few more of their albums over the past month. Yeah, I like their synth period. COME AT ME. Also it's fun to watch old music videos and judge people's hair.
Each of these are just one from the album that I've been listening to this week: From A Strangely Isolated Place - my god it's more than 10 years old. The bass sound on the whole album is just amazing From Black Earth From Asiatisch Maybe we'll end up with a new genre from China like what happened with goa?
HTRK- didn't make it on enough best of 2014 lists
Pain Teens- old skool Houston noise band, when they weren't doing some very prophetic things in the genre, they did a badass "Smashing Pumpkins thinks deeper thoughts and makes some actual racket" thing I enjoy.
Goddamn, D'Angelo.
King Crimson- Discipline or, "ya'll fucking crazy for this one."
Sturgill Simpson- Oh, look at that. A country music artist who wants to make a country music album that has vision and acknowledges it's roots. Weird. He's probably on drugs. Yup.
I've already posted one, but I've been listening to Lady Saw recently. I've had Stab Up De Meat on repeat for two days. I've also been listening to Rock The Casbah a lot lately. I don't need to introduce that one.
