Heavier Than Broken Hearts - Heaver Than Broken Hearts is actually a few months old, but it's new to me.
Radiohead. Took about one listen before Kid A became one of my favorite albums, and this became one of my favorite songs: I'd never heard anything like it. Took me far too long to get into them, and now that I've been exposed, they've more or less monopolized my listening. I just wish I could dig Radiohead without putting myself in a weird mood for the next hour or so.
I've been listening to Mozart Symphonies on my walk to work, and then, on days when I close, Motown as we clean up. It's an odd, but not unrelated combination.
Seriously, Jermaine Jackson can play the bass.
Classical music is a go to when I am writing code, and Motown is awesome. That Jackson 5 clip is incredible and made me look up a few of my recent favorites:
[Jeff Beck with Stevie Wonder-Superstitious @ Madison Square Garden]
I didn't realize that Jermaine played bass on the live stuff and on some of the later records. I know that most the early recordings used my all time favorite bass player, James Jamerson (and Babbit on a few tracks). I guess Jamerson rubbed off cause Jermaine was holding it down in fine style. Found this a few weeks ago on you-tube
(@b_b), I've had people point me at Sufjan Stevens several times and I want to like it, but never was able to make the personal connection with the music. I do like the song you posted though, so thanks for that; am gonna go down that hole for a bit I think.
This album, Age of Adz, is among my most favorite albums of all time. I love all SS that I've heard, but this one has a kind of self confidence that the others lack. It's forceful, where many of his other albums feel like he's tiptoeing on eggshells. Also, on a different note, if you surround the username is @'s, instead of just putting it at the beginning, it creates a notification.
I've been listening to Joyce Manor's new album Never Hungover Again non-stop this week. Here's a highlight from it: Victoria
Either you mentioned them again recently or I've had the allmusic tab open for 130 days, which is not outside the realm of possibility. Doesn't matter how, but spinning this is ace. Just tight as hell. Probably the best thing I've heard from '14, which doesn't mean as much as it should. Still. Sounds like Jack's Mannequin's sound lost 50 pounds and grew a spine.
Hey, I think NHA is my favorite album of the year as well, so don't sell yourself short. Try to see them live if you can, they are fantastic.
That album is wonderful and I'm glad I can still listen to everything they've ever written in under an hour.
I listened to Vetiver yesterday. I also spent a couple of evenings working on a song that ghostoffuffle wrote. I'm excited to share that one on Hubski. I've been working on a podcast about religion and spirituality and have been listening to music that fits thE topic. Any suggestions?
This as a little petty, but it makes me smile every time I hear it. Edit: Hey, an excuse to link to Colt! Have a crappy live recording of I Talk to GodI've been working on a podcast about religion and spirituality and have been listening to music that fits thE topic. Any suggestions?
Working on thenewgreen's song and it reminded me of a CD that I've been grooving to in my car, so I gave a few of my favorite tracks an extra listen: Good summertime music. PS bfv, really dug Crocodile Tears. Thx for sharing.
Thank you! I track what I listen to on last.fm and picked a few of the ones that stood out to me recently.
I'm a big Wilco, Nick Drake and Belle & Sebastian fan. We listened to all of your picks on our drive today to the park. Enjoyed it, thanks again. You ever hear this Belle & Sebastian tune?
Nice, that's really cool to hear! I hadn't heard that one actually. If you're looking for a documentary to watch you might enjoy this Pitchfork one. It's about their album If You're Feeling Sinister.
-Yes, I've seen it. As a fan, it's pretty great to watch. I've recently begun playing the show they took their name from for my daughter.
Here are some of my own recent favorites that haven't been posted yet (some not released recently): [Wild Soul - Langhorne Slim & The Law]
Caravan Palace is so sick, I love that style. Very well done, you should check out the rest of that album.
Red alert, potential #hiphophubski head spotted in the vicinity!
Honestly, I'm white and middle aged. I like rap way more than I should at my age probably. But, I was a boy in Atlanta in the 80's and I've been around hip hop most of my life. I rode the after hours bus from East Point Elementary to the Brookhaven Boys Club in College Park as a kid (Outkast anyone). So, now I'm that guy in Office Space pretty much. Office Space - Michael Bolton Rapping
Fuck getting old, but I will listen to this loud as fuck in my car. All Me - Drake Ft 2 Chainz & Big Sean (Lyrics)
^thenewgreen would probably like this if he hasn't heard it already.
Anderson .Paak - Such Great Heights - just found Anderson via Watsky's track Ink Don't Bleed, really been digging his album Cover Art. Speaking of Watsky, his new track is pretty great - Right Now ft. Lisa Vitale And I will never tire of Toh Kay's cover of Streetlight Manifesto's album The Hands That Thieve. Favorite song - Toe to Toe.
I also listened to the new Joyce Manor record, it's great. Check that out. But mostly I've been listening to Yo La Tengo, who are one of my favorite bands. I spent some time this week recording a cover of one of their songs.
Johnny Winter - thanks coffeesp00ns!
