Oh good spot sandemon. Listening the first time, toward's the end I felt his acoustic sounded... off ...I didn't realize until reading your comment and replaying and actually watching it, that it was intentional. Love the effect it creates. Fits the song perfectly. God I can't even play mine unless it's in perfect tune, the idea of intentionally detuning it...
Thanks for introducing me to Clockwork Inidigo, Loving Butterfly Effect right now. That beat, and those high choral singers, are just so damn good. For whatever reasons, my brain made me instantly go listen to The Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist afterwards.
You're going to have an amazing time. I saw him speak at a local university a few nights ago and he was HILARIOUS. High energy, reactive to the crowd, riffing somewhat on current events, but also telling lots of stories growing up and then moving to the states and just random experiences across America. Very well might have been the best stand up show I've been to, even though officially it was part of the universities "distinguished speakers" series, the idea of which he could not help but to repeatedly mock, him, distinguished.
I've had Trouble Will Find Me by The National and Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young, on pretty constant repeat for the last two months or so. Something about listening to the final track of each album, particularly Everybody Knows, which I've been listening sometimes 3-4 times in a row, just inspires me to get up and start the whole thing over again so that's what I'll link.
It was a fascinating article. And I'm actually a little intrigued about seeing The Canyons now that I've read it. Not because I think it's going to be that good, because it probably won't be, but as a whole thats a pretty serious list of former has-beens, between Schrader, Ellis, and Lohan, all coming together.
