Thank you for posting this. I confess I have a (not so secret) love of 70s bands doing reggae songs. See also Hatian Divorce.[

Thanks for the ear worm- this is guaranteed to be stuck in my head all day now. :)

Wow! How timely! I saw them in March of '06 at the Charleston Coliseum- great show, but no incidental fireworks.

I always think of the Singles soundtrack when I hear this song- a formative album of my tween years long before anyone used the word tween.

Sonny Rollins - St Thomas (Saxophone Colossus is the only cd in my car, my local NPR affiliate has been having a fund drive, and I often forget the cable for my data port.)

Nina Simone - Here Comes the Sun (just discovered this cover very recently.)

Flying Lotus - Never Catch Me featuring Kendrick Lamar

Love this. Reminds me of this movie.

I am moving to Japan in one month's time to be with my (American) fiance. I will most likely teach English. He works for an American company. When we move back to the states in a year or so I will return to the restaurant industry.

I've been meaning to make a "soft pretzel panzanella"- that is to say, a bread salad using soft pretzel croutons. I'd like to experiment with all the classic South Philly flavors- broccoli rabe, sharp provolone, etc., with some sort of mustard-y vinaigrette. I made an iteration once that didn't quite do it for me. I haven't had occasion to try again, but now that tomato season is almost upon us...

I wonder how tea as a base for congee would be- you could maybe half it with stock- whatever the main protein is.

Or, rice pudding with tea as a main flavoring component instead of water...
