There are a lot of emotions running deep today. The past nine years have one hell of a trip. The person I was when I signed my name on the dotted line is vastly different from the one who signed out today. I've had quite a few drinks to celebrate the end so it's a little bit difficult to truly reflect but.. man idk. I'll try and put together a small album together within the next couple days of my favorite moments. The military has allowed me to meet countless interesting people, visit 30+ countries, and develop myself to a level I would have never before thought possible. While I never posted much on hubski I would like to thank y'all for keeping me somewhat grounded-just lurking and reading has been significant. When surrounded by the echo chamber of the army this website has always been a refuge to maintain at least a little intellectual capacity.
popping in to say how grateful I am for all of you. all of you makers all of you scientists all of you artists all of you doers all of you listeners all of you writers all of you teachers all of you random internet strangers all of you hubskiers I am forever in your collective debt. It's been kind of a weird and wild and rough couple years and you all have helped pull/push/inspire me through. I love you all even if I'm not sharing much lately... but I read often and appreciate you.
Got my booster yesterday. Dying today. No exciting holiday plans beyond homework. First final is one week from today. All done December 13th. Might plan for a Dec 15 or 16 virtual happy hour. Haven't done that in forever (sorry) and that is damn near the 11th hubskiversary. So keep your eyes peeled for that!
My booster was really rough too. Much worse than the 1st or 2nd shot, knocked me out for a full day after. What date is the 11th hubskiversary?
Which booster did you get? I'm getting a third Moderna on December 5th. The first was nothing though the second was rough for 36 hours.
Last year's 10th hubskiversary meetup was Dec 10th. I'm not sure if that was held on the specific 10th anniversary or a few days off. As to when the video call for this year is, I don't know yet but it'll be around the 15th probably. Gotta watch my schedule when we get closer.
My first two were moderna. Booster Pfizer. Like the others said, achy joints, feverish, chills, and a pounding headache.
I got Pfizer. Very similar response to b_b. My joints felt swollen and very, very sore. I had a massive headache for about 12 hours, and felt dehydrated for most of the next day despite keeping up on my fluids. My arm soreness was actually worse with 2nd shot compared to the booster.
Congrats on the intimate holiday. It sounds lovely. And kudos on doing what you want. 23 years together and my wife and I have never cooked a turkey. I don’t have anything against it, but neither of us like it well enough to make it. So we’ve been a festival of all the sides. It makes me so happy to watch the Lions lose while cooking and eating four kinds of potatoes, stuffing, salad, and cranberry salsa. Enjoy the hell out of that duck!but we NEED to have a turkey 'cause tradition".
Pretty curious what Omicron will do to workplace return to work. My employer has a date out there of January 10 to begin reintegration, though the office is currently open to all, and January is a start, not an immediate jump into it. Utilities are often old fashioned, and I think my employer likes the look of headquarters being downtown near the state capitol. But they also have 24/7 system operators and crews that provide vital response to outages. Keeping them healthy is a top priority. I'm betting by Christmas we'll hear the date getting kicked out two months. I like working from home.
My father in law is in town. I enjoy seeing him. However, our guest bedroom is where my music studio. I will be sad to see him go, but I cannot wait to make some music. It's been a LONG time. Very long. Happy holidays everyone!
