You can't resist Oreos. Or Cheetos for that matter; they're engineered to be appealing. Well, except for the Oreo-teeth or Cheeto-finger thing. Ever notice that foods developed by industrial scientists tend to end in "-os"? Fritos, Cheerios, Bac-os, Elio's pizza (rectangle cafeteria pizza) . . . crack cocaine . . .
I think I have way too many of these, especially for food. I'm also an avid consumer of nicotine, though these days in the form of e-liquid via an e-cig. I don't care for dip/chaw or snus/snuff, but pipes, hookahs/nargilas and cigars are things I enjoy, though rarely. I don't smoke cigarettes anymore, but if I did (and if I could get my hands on them) my smoke of choice would be George Karelias & Sons. Smoking is a terrible habit and you shouldn't do it. But if you do, you may as well not pussyfoot around the issue by smoking light flavor. GKs are full flavored, luxuriant and extremely potent. And I'm pretty sure they're high in tar, too. E-cigs appear to be less harmful than conventional nicotine delivery systems (which are tobacco based), but I won't say that they're harmless, as they're so new that comprehensive research has yet to be done. Furthermore, there is great diversity in types of e-cigs, liquids and their flavorings. Nicotine is extremely addictive and I don't recommend that anyone start consuming it, but my word, once you are addicted to it there are some fantastic ways to satisfy the cravings.
Between the 2009 ban starting and discovering ecigs, I resorted to grey market Djarums from Indonesia. I had to buy them by the crate, which was about a 6 month supply for me, and they'd tell customs it was a gift. They tasted even better after all the trouble it took to get them.
This post has me in tears. Put that shit on any variety of vanilla ice cream.
Belgian chocolate, yo. Too bad half of them have gross fillings like coconut. The chocolate raisins were just regular chocolate, nothing special I presume.
I hate to burst your bubble, lil, but I am 100 percent positive that Rufus Wainwright bats for the other team.
One of the best shows I ever saw was a Rufus Wainwright show. He played at the Michigan theater years ago and at the end of his set played "oh what a world" and it was fantastic. This post was completely inspired by _refugee_'s recent post regarding poems about the beach. For some reason that got me thinking about Loudon Wainwright's version of the song that's my daughter. Then I began thinking about Rufus, then I thought about this song in particular and eventually started thinking about self-indulgence.
thanks tng, as usual we have the same preferences. I've seen Rufus live several times and it's always just wow (esp. last year in a tribute concert to Joni Mitchell. Jorn, btw, was the artistic director of the connected festival. I am still a fan of the McGarrigle Sisters. Listen to this one song by Kate and Anna McGarrigle. Kate was Rufus's mother, as you probably know. Musical royalty here in the north:
That's a great song lil. Remove the strings and the accordion and it's a modern hit. Love the instrumentation at the outset of that song, really cool, thanks for it.
I'm a pizza junkie. I worked at a pizza place for over two years, and I could still eat it EVERY. DAY.
You and me both. Growing up pizza was what we got when we were good. I love pizza! My mother owned a daycare center and every other friday was Pizza Day there. The leftovers came home. I had a very unhealthy diet as a kid. Its taken some time to change my dietary behaviors but pizza is one vice that will never leave me.
They vary at any given time, but some of the things I've indulged in lately: Masala chai, chicken broth (this may seem like a weird indulgence, but I drank a whole container of the stuff the night before my invertebrate paleontology exam and it was so good), citric-acid containing sugary candy such as Smarties or Fun Dip, popcorn with seasoning, vanilla milkshakes, trips to the city, Trader Joe's chocolate bars, and sleeping in until 10:00 on weekends.
