* Rufus Wainwright, mmmmmm
I hate to burst your bubble, lil, but I am 100 percent positive that Rufus Wainwright bats for the other team.
One of the best shows I ever saw was a Rufus Wainwright show. He played at the Michigan theater years ago and at the end of his set played "oh what a world" and it was fantastic. This post was completely inspired by _refugee_'s recent post regarding poems about the beach. For some reason that got me thinking about Loudon Wainwright's version of the song that's my daughter. Then I began thinking about Rufus, then I thought about this song in particular and eventually started thinking about self-indulgence.
thanks tng, as usual we have the same preferences. I've seen Rufus live several times and it's always just wow (esp. last year in a tribute concert to Joni Mitchell. Jorn, btw, was the artistic director of the connected festival. I am still a fan of the McGarrigle Sisters. Listen to this one song by Kate and Anna McGarrigle. Kate was Rufus's mother, as you probably know. Musical royalty here in the north:
That's a great song lil. Remove the strings and the accordion and it's a modern hit. Love the instrumentation at the outset of that song, really cool, thanks for it.
