Have we done Trainspotting yet? If not, why the fuck haven't we done Trainspotting yet? Let's do Trainspotting. Edit: Since this is picking up votes I want to clarify– this is a "comedy" insofar as it is really funny a lot of the time, but more in a "holy fucking shit what the fuck" way and a "what the dick that's genius" way, than a "lol" way. The "dark" part is on point as well, but at the same time this is one of the most colorful films I've ever watched. Consider yo'self disclaimed.
American Beuaty is a great, definitely dark, film. If you've not seen the Fisher King, definitely check it out. It's ine of my favourite films and now that Robin Williams is gone, it takes on even greater importance. Hard to imagine anyone else playing "Perry." Fantastic film. Let me know what you think of it. Edit: I mean, check out this scene. Damn.
The King of Comedy - 1982. Stars Robert De Niro as an actor obsessed with a late night show host. I originally found it in a piece where Ebert talked about movies that he honestly couldn't make his mind up if he liked.
Sorry wrong link. This was a montage that followed the trailer I was trying to post that is posted right above. Bamboozeled by Spike Lee
Shouldn't have waited so long, but how about Network? I haven't seen it in years but I remember loving it.
Starring an ensemble cast consisting of Dustin Hoffman, Isabelle Huppert, Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Lily Tomlin, Mark Wahlberg, and Naomi Watts, I Heart Huckabees is one of my all time favorite 'dark comedies.' I'm due for a re-watch, so maybe you guys can join me.
