You know which one I'm talking about.
That one that you listen to after finally talking to that one person or getting that one thing done. Mine's always been Blink 182 - First Date just because I always used to listen to punk rock and it brings back good memories
I wanted to post just one, but I really can't break this tie.
Those drums sound sooo good. Reminds me of some of the drum sounds from Ziggy. I attempted to play and record drums earlier tonight and damn, it's hard to do well. Here, have some Five Years -cause, why not? Remember seeing him in Michigan?
I do remember. With Phil. And his tight pants.
I wonder what happened to Phil? And his tight pants
My favorite song of their is "Straight to Hell", but it depends what you're into. Their eponymous first album is really good--it's pure punk with some reggae influence. Give 'em Enough Rope is also pretty good, bit more catchy. London Calling is a must--"Train in Vain," "Clampdown," and "Spanish Bombs" are all really good and easy to get into. Sandanista! is probably my favorite album of theirs--it's the most experimental and psychedelic. Combat Rock was the most commercial, but "Should I Stay or Should I Go" is great and "Rock the Casbah" is amazing. Anything after Topper was kicked out isn't really worth listening to (Cut the Crap, etc.)
My favorite Clash song from "London Calling," which I think is often overlooked (because it's such a damn good album) is Lost in the Supermarket I wasn't born, so much as I fell out......
Came here to share 'birdhouse' but you beat me to it, so here's another TMBG song, one that I'm not sure why I like so much :
My 3 year digs this Adam Green song Tropical Island -it's pretty damn happy.
this happy little piece of shit or "dont stop me now" on ocation
"Twin Size Mattress" by The Front Bottoms. The lyrics aren't actually happy, but the energy in this song gets me more excited than most things. Oh and it's a little dorky but "Tage wie Diese" ("Days Like These) by Die Toten Hosen sure is uplifting
I was into punk via Linkin Park early on in developing my taste in music, that's awesome. Imo, there's a few universal answers to your question, i'll mix them in with my personal favorites: Lou Reed: Ja' son, mon: Bobby McLovin': Miles Davis: Carlos Santana: But most of all I enjoy a good music video: Radiohead-
These are all the songs I've gotten high to, anyway. woops. not including Floyd, the rest of radiohead and Zeppelin, which make me thoughtful, not happy.
Coltrane's "Giant Steps" record was one of the first I ever played through and appreciated, as my parents would always play it at home and in the car. Two years ago I mentioned it to a professor at my music school and he gave me this album along with the Mahavishnu album I posted. Bliss, thank you for reminding me of this.
Hard to beat this one, for me : Blue Sky by the Allmans :
