Went to a concert last night and saw the following bands, it was an incredible show and just validates why I love Anticon Collective so much. P. Morris - Hold Tight. am_Unition, I think you'd dig this! Good and danceable electronic music. I'd never heard of him before last night. You'll definitely like the Baths track below. Young Fathers - I Heard. These guys put on an intense set. Took stage, started playing, super loud and harsh at first and a ton of stage energy. They closed with this song and finished it a Capella with the crowd and then just walked off stage. Baths - Ocean Death. This is a new track from his upcoming EP that he played last night. It's footage of the show and once this song gets going it's incredible. Love Baths.
I thought Obsidian was a great album, though I don't know if I like it more than I like Cerulean. Dude puts on a great show too, I saw him about 6 months back.
He really really refined his sound-design and mixing for Obsidian. The amount of clean little hand-crafted details in it is pretty wonderous.
It was insane. I was expecting the falsetto to sound great and for some cool improvisation with the electronic side of it, but I was not expecting the parts where he just started screaming the lyrics and going crazy. I think I like Obsidian more, but not by a wide margin. My love for the second half of that album is great.
https://soundcloud.com/henrymosher/sets/leaving-home The singer of the band I'm in released an acoustic ep that I've been listening to. To anyone but specifically thenewgreen : if you have 16 minutes of free time I'd love to know what you think of this.
I really like his voice, it sounds honest to me. The melodies are great and I enjoyed the lyrics too, they're simple and relatable. This is a good thing IMO, too many lyricist "try" and this sounds and feels effortless. I'm known by those that have played music with me to take a good acoustic song and over arrange atop it. My hats off to him for keeping these simple and straight forward. That said, any chance some of these will be adopted by the band? You guys working on a follow up? I remain a fan and just listened to your last album while driving from MI to NC yesterday. -Thanks for the company.
yeah, i enjoyed it for the same reasons, except i'm starting to wish that the lyrics were more diverse. it becomes obvious pretty quickly that all the songs are about one specific event in his life, so i don't fault him for having recurring themes, but i don't like that the lyrics for each song are more or less interchangeable. I have that arrangement issue also. I admire the minimalism of it - no distractions, just song. nothing more, nothing less. Yes, i suspect so. we have played a couple of them already, in fact. he came home in December to play for a charity thing that we do every year and we played Oh No and one other that i can't remember. It's been almost a year since Finally Bored was released. The buzz has since dwindled to almost nothing, so it means a lot to me that you still play it every once in a while. Thank you, sincerely. As for a follow up, i can't say for sure. it doesn't seem that the rest of the band's schedule will ever allow for an extended amount of time to be spent back here. We are planning on a few shows with new material in chicago and probably wisconsin this august. sadly, beyond that i don't know.
That said, whatever music you're making, let me know and i'll be excited to hear it. I definitely dig the Blisters though. That album is tight, to the point where it pisses me off. -Bastards make it seem too easy.As for a follow up, i can't say for sure. it doesn't seem that the rest of the band's schedule will ever allow for an extended amount of time to be spent back here.
-Make it happen. You guys sound great together and while it may seem like that happens often, I actually don't think it does. When you can make good albums with a group of friends, you ought to try and do as much of it as you can.
I posted it a few days ago but I've been all over this Deep House playlist lately. Something about saxophones in EDM drives me wild. http://8tracks.com/george-stoitzev/summer-nights-city-lights
Edit to include,
I found this Kishi Bashi - Bright Whites: On NPR and I can't form an opinion about it
Ah, that playlist was incredible, thanks for sharing it. Kishi Bashi is such a talented musician. I'm probably going to see him perform in June.
This week I've been listening to a lot of J. Geils Band Where Did Our Love Go? Ain't Nothin' but A House Party Musta Got Lost Centerfold And I have also been listening to Grand Funk Railroad's Some Kind of Wonderful a little too much.
Been listening non stop to Johnny Cash's Live at Folsom Prison album.
I've been developing DEF CON's EFF compilation for this year. I've recently gotten obsessed with New Retro Wave. My favorite artists right now are Starcadian (who makes brilliant music videos), and Vogel. Starcadian - China Town
Vogel - Night City
Your second and fourth songs are the same Kasabian track. Which I'm okay with because Kasabian is good.
I'm even more excited that you replaced that with Miami Horror. Holidays is a great summer jam and the song you linked to is great too.
Been digging this song by the Brian Jonestown Massacre Panic in Babylon:
was just telling someone the other day that I worked with the drummer for BJTM for a bit. I had two weeks notice in and he had just hired on but he seemed like a super nice guy. Found Dead Skeletons one night while i was watching BJTM vids. Probably not most peoples cup of tea but like grindy psychedelic music.
