I didn't know about candy crush. That's quite upsetting.

Don't know how far into Iowa you are going, but if you're passing by Des Moines, the East Village is a can't-miss. You should absolutely visit Raygun and grab a bite at Zombieburger at the minimum.

Depends on when you're going, but if you go during RAGBRAI, visit one of the towns they stop in. You don't need to have a bike or anything, just join the party.

Lastly, stop by any supermarket parking lot and buy sweet corn straight from one of the stands that set up in the parking lot. The downtown Des Moines farmers market is great for this too.

Best of luck with your move!

caterpie  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Apple Watch Sales Drop 90 Percent From Opening Week

One of the biggest issues that Apple has faced since Jobs passed away is brand dilution. Before his death, it was pretty easy to pick out a Mac or iPhone from far away, as they were tech staples in popular culture.

Unfortunately, beginning with the iPhone 5c, Apple tried to get too fancy. I thought the 5c could have been a throwback to the 1998 iMac, but they kept up with increasing options, which is arguably the opposite of what made Apple appealing. Too many choices is a bad thing for the common consumer, especially one that got used to Apple's standard black/white color choices, save a few generations of the iPod nano.

Now there's, what, 38 options? Too much brand dilution. I don't know if I'd recognize an Apple Watch the same way I recognized the first iPhone, iPad, or iMac.

Watches seemed like the next logical step, but they did it poorly. Too many choices too late hurt this release.

A book that I love also addresses the metaphysical, Haruki Murakami's 1Q84.

It's fiction, but also an extraordinarily entertaining read. Most of Murakami's books and stories touch on the metaphysical, but this one is more clear-cut and accessible than his other novels, I think (although it still has dead ends, including an antithesis to Chekhov's gun). The book is a monster though, so you trade clarity for sheer volume.

Won't stop me from trying!

I could have sworn I remembered them having a good season recently, but that was actually in men's basketball. Oh well.

That being said, I'm the same kind of fan about St. Olaf. We lost our homecoming game in incredible fashion this year. I'm all about watching and keeping up with the P5 conferences, though.

Haha I understand the feeling. Coming from a school that doesn't have Saturdays planned around football, it's still a nuisance to go to the games or even plan events around them (despite no parking, ticket fee, or alcohol present at St. Olaf).

Georgia is a popular pick to unseat two-time defending East champion Missouri this year! They are loaded with talent but seem to underperform when expectations are high. I'm sure that their heartbreaking loss to Georgia Tech last year will motivate them this year, however. Bama, @ Tenn, Florida, @ Auburn, @ GT should all be fun games to watch.

I finally got to avoid using leet spelling on my preferred username, which was nice. But yeah, I feel that this space strikes a nice balance between being intuitive and complex. Might take a little bit to get used to!
