It's an amazing thing to see someone clearly lie so blatantly, regardless of their stature in life, but even more so when it's the President of the USA. -That Happened.
You'll note that I've posted a few songs to the #thathappened thread, but it occurred to me that having a single post with a bunch of "that happened" type posts in the comments could prove interesting, if not entertaining. So, have at it.
Oh, by the way... this happened too:
This happened. One of the more sincere moments of crazy.
I'm pretty sure that's the exact moment when Mike Myers decided to step away from show biz for a little while. I had never seen that clip, thanks for sharing. Is Kanye always such a rambling mess?
I'm going to go with a resounding yes. Mike Myers career really did plummet. Has he even done anything as of late?
I find that less ludicrous than the prospect of the President of the USA jamming down with a saxophone on national television: That happened. Age of innocence.
"I did not have saxual relations with that woman."
Depends on who's blowing... This: Sex. This: ...not sex. This can be applied to sex, too. Man, it is way too early to jump between my literals and my figuratives...
I think in retrospect, he chose a very poor path. He should have said, Miss Lewinsky and I did not have sex. You accomplish two things with that. First, you are telling the truth, if only on a technicality. The choice of "relations" was a poor one, because I think many people understand it to encompass a broader range of activities. Second, using her name in a respectful way would have saved him her respect, which turned out to be pretty important in the end. Waving his finger into the camera and calling her "that woman" is dehumanizing, and of course she's going to be more apt to be vengeful. Who wouldn't? Or, he could have just told the truth, and it would've been forgotten in a matter of weeks. I doubt we'd still be discussing it 16 or so years later. How many times do people in power have to learn the lesson that the truth, no matter how bad it is, is often less damaging when told before a series of deeper and deeper lies?
Hell, don't get my post wrong, I love me some BC. I can remember watching that video when it originally aired. But yeah, it's somewhat hard to believe that happened, but not entirely: Difference is, Clinton would have owned it.
Agreed 100%. -by my estimation, he is perhaps the greatest front man/singer in rock and roll history.
Yeah, but you gotta admit, Obama's got kind of a great voice. That one line of Al Green he did was... surprising.
For sure. In fact, he has so many amazing attributes. If only he'd use them.
I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt on a personal level. I think he's demonstrated good diplomatic acumen (Kerry, on the other hand...), good constitutional know-how, a moderate knack for the bully pulpit, and pretty nuanced moral compass. Personally. I've long since given up faith in the presidential institution, though. And as such, I think he's faired as well or as poorly as any president can in this day and age- for what it's worth, I think he has used his attributes as effectively as possible, given the post. Which is unsettling.
