Someone told me I hit my 365-day mark a couple days ago, so I figured I should mark the occasion with ... something.
- On my profile page I have 5 little orange disks. Apparently Hubski gives away frisbees, or something?
- I also have the number 36 next to a little walking person icon, which tells me I've been blocked by quite a number of people so far. Oops! (EDIT: Whoops. Steve tells me those are my followers, not the number of people who have blocked me.)
- I've got a 50/50 post/share ratio, which surprised me. I thought I commented far more often than I shared content. Interesting...
- I've donated $25 this year. Should probably double that before the end of the month. Hubski is worth it.
- And apparently of all the tags I have used an invented, the only one that is associated with me (ironically) is #religion.
- I've watched Elizabeth buy a motorcycle and ride the wheels off it.
- I've seen what happens when people stop taking their meds. And continue to post. And post. And post again.
- I've gotten kudos for my shitposts.
- I've participated a bit with a Russian's exploration of the world, and his own internal journey.
- I've said more words online to a close friend than we have ever shared face to face.
- I pulled the plug on most of my social media presences.
- I still visit Reddit regularly to help people fix their Apple products, and to debate writing issues/topics, and to see the crazy shit that mechanics find inside and under cars.
- I'm looking forward to the next 365 days, too.
Thanks Hubski!
First of all... you've only been on here a year? It feels like you're an old timer! Secondly.... wait... you're kidding right?- I also have the number 36 next to a little walking person icon, which tells me I've been blocked by quite a number of people so far. Oops!
OH! Right. Duh. I think the icon should be changed to a little dude bowing before a throne of light... ;-) (Seriously man, I have so little idea of how Hubski works, or what all this stuff is/does. RTFM, I know... maybe I'll get around to it in my 2nd year. :-) )
Goobster, you tha best! Hope to meet you at burning man next year. Personally, I found KB always so convincing and such a good writer I'd believe his opinion without any critical thinking. And them you showed up. With equally good writing skills, equally as convincing, but sometimes with the oposing point of view. And it was great! I hope when I'm your age, my life will be as full and great as yours. #lifegoals
I'm still about 50/50 on going to the Burn in 2017, but... if YOU are gonna be there, that moves the probability of my attendance up to about 70/30! :-) My plan at this point is to ride my motorcycle down, and camp out at about 4:30 and K. I've got some friends out there in the outskirts of the city, and I've had my fill of living in Center Camp for the last 5 years or so! :-) Oh... and your life is already amazing. Embrace that. You are amazing, and you have done amazing things. Keep up this pace, and you'll have me beat by the time you are 30! :-)
It's my plan to go so baring an unfortunate event, I should be there :) Of course, the dream would be to drive out there with friends in some kind of travel van, but that might not be in the budget. We'll see about that, worse case we'll fly in. I'll definitely get in touch with you before going but meeting you there would be the coolest thing ever :)
As others have said, you aren't an old timer? I registered 150 days before you but would have guessed you were here before me. I'm glad you're here.
Oh, I identify totally as male, which is part of why I find "seamstress" funny - something subsersive in taking on such a gendered label in such a gendered field (and, in any case, it's usually what I get called anyway, may as well embrace it). I've heard some talk of "sewist" as an alternative but that just doesn't sound good to me.
I'm really glad you're here goobster. Your a day in the life of a hubskier post is when I fell for ya. I always enjoy you posts/commentary. Happy hubday! Have some Mr. Show:
