Oh I do so love me some Rustie. Mick Hobbs from The Work had an international "anti-pop" band that released some cassettes throughout the years but are really hard to get ahold of. Adrian Belew <3 Just one of the best records EVER.
Tried out a few albums that I'd never bothered to listen to all the way. "Keep a Private Room Behind the Shop", "Is This It", " The Year of Hibernation", "Get Lonely", and a few others. Pretty good week. Liked them all. I listened to Sufjan Stevens' Michigan album, Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin, and last night at dinner we listened to my Miles Davis Pandora station. I also listened to Yeasayer this week. Good stuff.
Recently, I've realized that Age of Adz might be the greatest album of all time. If you've not heard it, and you're a Sufjan fan, I would highly recommend doing so ASAP. It's absolutely brilliant in almost every conceivable way. I've heard the majority of the work he's released, and I'm a fan of everything, but nothing can compare to that one, IMHO.
Steely Dan's 'Any Major Dude Will Tell You' cheered me up today.
And then there's the Rubberbandits' latest, 'Fellas'.

Persona 3 has the best final boss music of any video game I've ever played. It is also one of the longest fights in the game, which means you get to take it all in... very fitting! The arcana is the means by which all is revealed.

Well, we're currently listening to The Resonars. Recently listened to The dB's (who fucking rule and go listen to them, we spun their album Repercussions), and we listened to The Masked Intruders before that. And a whole bunch of blues when we were moving because we needed it to go through that hellhole of a morning.
Really digging this track that was posted to /r/drums yesterday: Check out that left foot! Still digging the RL Grime / What So Not collab from a while back: And Roy Hargrove Quintet is great: I will always love taktoprawda, this weird Polish hip-hop group. Groovy as shit.
I really like that taktoprawda song (that's some amazing rhythm they have going), and the Son of a Black Hole song they've got is good too. I've never heard of taktoprawda before, and their videos each have less than 10,000 hits. How did you discover that band?
I listened to this group a lot in high school, right after SoaD broke up and Serj started doing his own thing. Apparently, Daron and John went off to do their own thing as well around the same time. They went radio silent after their first album, and as far as I know have no plans to do anything else. Kind of a pity it never took off since I think this stuff sounds a lot more like their old System songs, albeit the lyrics are definitely not as strong without Serj. I think the actual music is great though, and it's hard for me to pick only a few favorites...
