Remind me again why people hate liberals.
[...] The Metzger Law Group previously sued McDonald's and Burger King, which eventually settled and agreed to put warning labels on their fries, pay civil penalties to California, CERT and attorney Raphael Metzger, reported The New Food Economy. The law firm applied the same formula to potato chip manufacturers. Skeptics abound. At least one lawyer previously questioned Metzger and his relationship with CERT, wondering why the nonprofit and law firm had the same address. The American Council on Science and Health called such lawsuits an attempt to grab "a giant bag of money," reported Forbes. Troll just wants to collect some fees.Metzger Law Group, which sued the coffee companies on behalf of CERT
I don't remember the first time I rolled my eyes and ignored a "known to the state of California to contain a known carcinogen" warning, but it wasn't today and wasn't coffee.
So we're listening to some nonprofit instead of the American Cancer Society and numerous peer reviewed papers? In what world does this make sense? Well, hope all coffee companies are looking forward to either having labeling specific to California, or introducing it to all labeling. This is so stupid.
They seem to have a strong opinion on what causes brith defects as well, is it insensitive to call those diseases ? Shiet. It confused the hell out of me the first time I saw it as a kid, like why only California ? What do they know that we don’t ? I never got answers.
Crazy, I thought they would just have to add stupid warning signs but this is gonna be costly "In addition to the warning signs likely to result from the lawsuit, the Council for Education and Research on Toxics, which brought the lawsuit, has asked for fines as much as $2,500 for every person exposed to the chemical since 2002, potentially opening the door to massive settlements. Starbucks is the lead defendant in the case; others like 7-Eleven have already settled. Starbucks did not immediately respond to a request for comment"
Hmmm. I've had multiple cups of coffee in California since 2002...maybe it's time to cash in!
Good luck. LADWP legit cost me $1500 and maybe 50 hours of my life and I was told by the class action attorneys that eight bills and two dozen emails was 'insufficient cause.'
