Private press, almost unknown heavy stoner psych. No record label, but catalog number 666. Strong comparisons to Jim Morrison, the lizard king. Recorded in 1971? But maybe 1980? One of the Top 10 private press LPs most likely to be owned by a serial killer. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bbWB96kXmRH6Br1Wd73EdeLgHgGWu2X
I'm digging Grigax, thanks for that bfv. TV on the Radio - Staring at the Sun and Wolf Like Me. I discovered these guys back in 2004 or so, when they opened for another band called The Faint (see below) at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. They were simply incredible live...close to Juno Reactor in terms of intensity. (If you've never seen Juno Reactor live, do it...even if you don't like drum n' bass, their live shows are a whole 'nother level.) The Faint - Agenda Suicide. The funny thing about The Faint is it's this really up-beat, almost poppy music combined with lyrics that are rapidly approaching morbid.
I recently rediscovered one of my Kasabian cds and it’s kind of got me on a kick for really not that great but really not that awful either British bands from around that time. So, I guess, have a few, you guys. These next guys are technically Swedish, but similar sound, so yeah . . . Yeah. Never really been into that style of music, but it’s nice to visit from time to time.
A combination I've always adored is the sound of live drums and piano, but thing is that it's hard to come by that combination without it being jazz, which requires a different mood for me. The only band that I really know of that does this is Big Scary. I ran into this gem in r/animeshortfilms, and man does it scratch a good itch for me. The "talking pop" style that they have just wrecks me as well, I've just had this song on repeat for the last few days. They have an EP under Pop Shinanaide on Spotify, it took me a bit to figure that out.
