Today's Prompt:
#10. Write about something you saw on your walk today.
Today's explanation behind my response:
1) I am cheating. I saw something on my walk yesterday that inspired me to write down a potential poem-title and I wanted to write about. When I saw this prompt on my list this morning I decided to make my idea do double-duty and use it to fulfill a prompt as well as just be a good idea that got me writing. I am cheating because I actually saw this yesterday.
2) Last fall I wrote a series of WITCH poems - 26, or so, in fact. What I saw yesterday reminded me of those poems and seemed like it would be a good addition to that collection, or that it lent well to that character and line of poems. If you are curious, you can read some of my WITCH poems here:

Today's Response (from refugee, of course)
THE WAY TO THE WITCH'S HOUSE
Her path begins by walking under,
the brachiating arch
of some old tree with
hoary, threaded bark
too portentous not
to belong on a walk
to a witch's house,
some supernatural being.
She must have trained
it by magic, as it seems
too believably natural-grown,
too easy to look
into the past and see
how each limb was guided
by patient, mossy hands into
its current shape -- too much
of both, of either tale --
to make the simple
truth of this so given
haunted growth,
this witchy, twitchy bower,
to otherworldly
implication.
