Rather disparate. Plus I have been listening to thenewgreen's albums on Spotify and I must say that Idiot Stranger is definitely growing on me in specific.
Thank you for listening. We used to close most of our sets with that song. It was a favorite.
Don't mention it! I must say that my stay on Hubski and lurking some of the previous 'Share some music' threads exposed me to more good music, be it indie or mainstream, that I have suspected it could be possible in such short time. Your very own band, pretty much Jazz as a genre and a lot of influences here and there are much appreciated new directions by this metalhead with soft spot for classical music ;). Pleasure is mine, if I can help your band in any way I will do my best there. To explain that bit about Jazz: it has a rather crappy pseudo-intellectual wannabe hipster connotations in Poland. On top of it, if not for the rezzeJ's recommendation, I didn't even know of any that I could call as something more than 'atonal note-mashing shit' as little as few weeks ago!
Don't ask me why, but I kinda like this (it's a remake of an old Sun Ra piece - Rocket Number Nine). [edit] And holy crap, only 18 views!]
I have had a lot of car time with the family this weekend. My daughter is genuinely curious about music and bands now. She is asking all the right questions. Today's lesson, Michael Jackson. Listened to a bunch of his solo work then asked if she wanted to hear him and his brothers when he was little. She said "yes." I played ABC and she said "wow, how old was he?"
He's undeniably one of the greatest artists in the modern era.
I like Nirvana but I'm sick to shit of all their songs that come on the radio. Why is modern rock radio still hauling out 25 year old songs on a regular basis? Not very modern, is it? As long as I'm talking about Nirvana, Kurt Cobain was a stunted adolescent with little to nothing of substance to say. Watch "Montage of Heck" and see if you don't understand my point. Good band, not a martyr or genius that needs to be remembered alongside Jimi Hendrix or even Jim Morrison. Nirvana just happened when the zeitgeist matched their sound.
I recently found out that Lyle Lovett did an NPR Tiny Desk Concert. I'm a few years late, but better late than never.
I can't say why, but this is the first song that came into my head when I saw this week's thread.
