So... if I skip a meal I will have eaten less calories in a day? Seems logical.

Sure, but not a given. It is plausible that someone that skips a meal would then eat more later to compensate.

It's also possible that regularly skipping a meal could reduce your metabolism, or your change propensity to build fat. My guess is that a 408 kcal deficit would not be completely undone by these effects, however.

Part of this post is motivated by confirmation bias. I skip breakfast.

That seems to be shown in Study 3 of this paper, where breakfast skippers eat more during lunch and dinner than those who eat breakfast. However, the breakfast skippers still end up with a net caloric intake that is lower than people who eat breakfast. Interesting study, I skip breakfast and don't typically drink coffee. Hunger pangs are gone by lunch and don't come back, the only thing that is worrisome is that I'm not getting enough nutrients over the course of the day, depending on what I eat on a given day.

I try to skip dinner, usually (though I'm seldom successful in doing so) and I don't notice extra hunger at breakfast time, but I always thought that it had to do with me sleeping inbetween and not something that could be replicated with other meals.

I'll try to skip breakfast instead and see how that works for me.

I have coffee, which probably makes it easier.

Today I skipped breakfast, had maybe half a cup of coffee, went to the gym and didn't actually feel hungry at all! I'll keep this going and see how the results are.

It does for sure. So does adderall. Haha.

I am about 50/50 on breakfast. Usually if I do eat breakfast I won't eat dinner, though.
