Ever see the movie Rad? Probably not, because I'm old. But, you should check it out if you want to know what it was like growing up in the 80's. Check out this bad-ass montage set to "Send Me an Angel". Hilarious.
I still have dreams that I can ride like that. No kidding. I'll have really great, lucid dreams that I'm a free-style BMX'er doing bike-moves at a dance. -recurring stuff for me, probably always will be.
What about you? What's your montage?
I was going to say the Ferris Bueller museum montage, since it's legitimately beautiful, but since steve already cited that one, I'll throw in Rocky 4's "Hearts on Fire" montage, since it's technically the pinnacle of improvement over time sequences. It's a different kind of beautiful.
I can't tell you how many times I watched Rocky IV as a kid. A LOT. We pretended to be Rocky vs. Drago over and over as kids. The thing with that movie is that the villain is as admirable in the end as the hero. Great call.
The Ghostbusters montage. Edit: The first one has better sound, but this one has the correct aspect ratio.
Great montage and an awesome film from my childhood as well. Did you know that Ray Parker, the guy that wrote/recorded the Ghostbusters theme was sued by Huey Lewis and the News because they said it was too similar to I want a New Drug. -Gotta say, I'm with Huey. Turns out that there may have been some truth since Columbia settled with him and payed him an undisclosed amount in reparations.
Days of Thunder, "Gimme Some Lovin" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWAnRj9e4VA It's a little drawn out for a montage, but it's only a few minutes, has a kick ass upbeat song to back it up, and conveys the passage of time of months over numerous races to show his early debut in NASCAR and convey that he sucked for awhile. So it's not as quick scene changing as a normal montage, but it's the first thing I thought of reading this question. Love this movie, love this whole portion.
I don't recall the movie, though I'm pretty sure I saw it. That clip was definitely entertaining though.
Not really a montage but the title sequence of To Kill A Mockingbird still remains my favorite. Gorgeous and lovely.
"Always fade out in a montage...." Those guys are hilarious. I'm going to go see The Book of Mormon in February and I'm pretty excited about it. Hopefully it has a montage. Can you do a live, theatre montage?
It's hard to pull of a montage in live theater, but it has a pretty epic overture-like musical sequence at one point, something reminiscent of the big "Tomorrow Night" musical sequence from the South Park movie. Not really a montage, but it works to the same end.
I know that I saw this movie when I was a kid but I literally have no recollection of it. Would it be worth watching now or no?
I love this movie, and whenever I have to explain it to people, it's "The one with the popcorn and the house at the end?", and everyone goes "OHhhhhh yeaaaah, that movie." Everyone's seen it, no one knows the name it seems.
Hahahahaha. I'm dying. Seriously - thenewgreen it's worth watching.
