I have become so cynical when it comes to Trump that I'm not yet sure it’s real or a PR stunt? It would achieve the following: Skip debate Engender sympathy Show that hydroxychoriquin works Show that it’s not a big deal Show how "strong" he is It's unlikely, but I wouldn't put it past him. If there is any semblance of justice, he will experience the long term symptoms that so many others have; due to his complacency. 200k+ dead. That would be justice. His supporters are praying. His detractors are celebrating. If they celebrate too hard the few undecideds could be pushed to a sympathetic support of him. Nobody will care anymore about his taxes or his white supremacy. His Covid will now dominate the news cycle. It will be all about him. Him. Him. If he has no symptoms, he will relish this.
I absolutely hate to agree with you. The likely hood of a PR stunt is too high. And for his detractors, if he doesn't get seriously ill, it will be hard to prove that it was a PR stunt. For his supporters, it will be all the proof they need that they were right.
“It’s not cynical to assume a liar is lying.” -Matt Jones
I should have provided the needed reference, these aren’t my words. A musician and historian named Matt Jones made this comment on Facebook. I felt it was worth propagating. But I can’t take the credit for the original thought. I’ll edit it accordingly. Also, he’s a Michigan artist. Check him out. Given your love for Sufjan, I think you’d dig. Here’s an old track of his I’ve always liked:
