lil steve I made this tonight, which is to say that I played hockey.
Lyrics:
You’ve got to run, run
Lookout right behind you
Another unmarked van
You came to kneel, to kneel
Ask questions,
speak truth to power
Take a baton to the head
There’s a mass, a mass
Of blood vessels, of fat and water
Pretending to be smart
And it points, it points
Dripping salt, blood and oil
As it clutches the mic
We run
We run, we run
Looking right behind us
Another unmarked van
We came to kneel, to kneel
Ask questions,
speak truth to power
Take a baton to the head
There’s a mass, a mass
Of blood vessels, of fat and water
Pretending to be smart
And it points, it points
Dripping salt, blood and oil
As it clutches the mic
And we run and we stand
I believe I still have a hockey jersey given to me by my brother (thenewgreen: not the Meatballs brother, the other one). On it is the name of a fictional major league hockey team, The Steelheads, the home team of the not fictional city of Hamilton Ontario. My brother wrote a fabulous TV drama called Power Play so he had the swag. Power Play was about an American guy who comes up to Canada to be the general manager of a hockey team. It didn't do well in the US because it had a very Canadian sensibility. It was a beautiful show.
The lyrics of this song were largely inspired by this cgod post: Someday, tng, me, and steve will do a Zoom call wearing hockey jerseys.
I would love this. The feelings will beam out of our hockey sticks like light sabres of love.
If you two do this I will donate $100 to a charity of your choice.
