I forgot how much I like your voices and through listening, I missed you all. Some other thoughts: “humanodon was born here” is maybe the most concrete endorsement of my citizenship other than my birth certificate, so I really appreciate that! Also, Trump’s shoulder seam on his suit is wicked gross. Don’t do that shit hubski.

Also: really nice job editing both video and audio!

Steve’s words really resonated with me. At work, one of our values is Collective Care:

We do not subscribe to the concept of self care by itself. We believe in collective care. We have to take care of each other, create the space for people to take care of themselves, and hold each other accountable for taking care of themselves and each other.

This has been my experience with hubski. Users here have privately contacted me when I’ve been down and out, offering to make connections for potential jobs, supporting me when I’ve been bent on being too hard on myself, and one user even asked me to do them a favor by reading a book that they sent to me, inside of which, I found $100 when I really needed it.

I keep coming back here and I’m so grateful that this group of people has come together.

When TNG sent me the audio... I just melted. Seriously - hearing your voices was like coming home. WEIRD, right? Out of the lot of you, I've only ever met thenewgreen and mk in real life... but because of hubski, and more acutely, because of these podcasts, I've heard your voices over and over again during the edits.... seeing your usernames and reading your posts, I get to know people here.. but hearing your voices? it's like we've met.

I feel like I know her so well... I've half convinced myself that lil and I are having a torrid affair.

maybe the most concrete endorsement of my citizenship

I'm super relieved, and really happy to hear you say that. I went back and forth on what to put in your section... racism is tricky... and I could have made some BAD... BAD... choices that could have unintentionally hurt feelings.

I really appreciate seeing behind the curtain on this one. Really thankful for the consideration! You know, given the association that I’ve had with you and TNG over the years, I didn’t really question what might be done with my recording. If it were people I didn’t know at all, I likely would have been more concerned about how I’d be presented.

Perhaps in the future, if there are questions like that, a conversation to between the people working on the project and the people being presented might be a good way to proactively address any doubts?

Happy to pass along resources as well. The company I work for produces content and workshops designed to advance racial equity. One of the things I’m interested in developing is a racial equity toolkit for social media. If anyone is interested in having a conversation about what that might look like, I’d love to get more ideas!

Anyway, great job on the editing Steve!
