Been on a Bela Fleck/Abigail Washburn kick cause I got a cheap ($20!!) banjo. Shotgun Blues Also, found an old instructional video of him Rhapsody in Blue ---- For anyone interested in mathy jazz / hip-hop, I cannot recommend this guy's channel enough: TAYP - Devil's Pie remix EDIT: and another sweet remix of that song by none other than Pete Rock himself.
Lil Uzi Vert's XO Tour Llif3 is great, extremely melancholy feeling with a really upbeat beat and lyrical delivery, with some really dark lyrics : Some interesting Mos Def with a jazzy feel: Wayne's latest feature gives me hope he'll release some music I'm excited about soon: XXXTentacion works with a lot of different sounds, and I'm partial to dark and violent tracks, so this has been getting some air-time recently: Some goofy fucking trap:
This took me to a good place. It's positive nature ambience
I posted another thing from this producer here (really just to you, bfv), then I went back in time on their soundcloud profile, and found this. And that's going to be the first track of the set that I'm planning to DJ in my 120 sq. ft. office this fall. The campus bar is a 90 second walk from me. I'll take some video. You probably don't like club electro, but hey, that's what I'm up to.
My man, I love me some SITD (got to see them live around 2004, too, was a great time). NiN - Closer (Unrecalled) - remix by Coil. I love how this shows how you can take a song and completely change the feeling of it. Their version of Gave Up is great, too.
St. Lucia - Dancing On Glass Some kind of pop, I think. It's upbeat and catchy.
"Full of Fire" - The Knife A nine minute thought provoking banger (with a pretty crazy music video too) "Pork Soda" - Glass Animals I didn't care much for Glass Animals last album even though I loved Zaba, but this track really stuck out to me (I think it's the pineapples) "Redbone" - Childish Gambino Ever since I saw Get Out this song has been in the back of my mind That's it for this week. I haven't been able to listen to a lot of music because finals are coming up.
Lots of The Decemberists this week. Being a fan of Aimee Mann is probably the least punk and hip thing but fuck the punks and fuck the hipsters because Aimee Mann is great and her new album is one of her better ones.
