Hey, seems like I'm not the only one enjoying more Frank Ocean lately. I had been trying to get into Blond more, kaptainkristian's video got me to give it another shot. Personally I really like the Skyline To + Self Control combo.
That's exactly who put me on to him in the first place, I've been enjoying the album but oh man, I just got home from a night-time walk through the mist and the lyrics just popped. I gave blonde a very quick go, but didn't enjoy it massively. Maybe I should stick with it... Reddit post on Jazz music seems like the next avenue I'm going to be exploring, maybe.
I don't know jack about hiphop/R&B - it's a blind spot I wanna fix. I mean, from this chart: ...I only know and like RJD2's Deadringer and some songs off the DJ Shadow album above it. For me the insight that he creates an atmosphere based on experience was what finally made me 'get' him. (Hopefully it's a way into the genre.) I think Nikes, White Ferrari and Futura Free do a really good job of this. Nostalgia and Channel Orange are definitely up next for me to dive into though.
Lou Reed. New York. Dirty Blvd. Give me your hungry, your tired, your poor I'll piss on 'em that's what the Statue of Bigotry says Your poor huddled masses let's club 'em to death and get it over with just dump 'em on the boulevard Get 'em out.
1st, to celebrate the number: As for what I've been listening to, the only one that really comes to mind is:
By far the best soundtrack of the era. This guitar remix is amazing.
