Anyone want to guess at our next declaration of war?
We're searching for mines and underwater construction. They know we're searching for mines and underwater construction. We know they know we're searching for mines and underwater construction. It's the dance we used to perform with "Russian fishing trawlers" - the CIA has a whole bunch of boats that are ostensibly civilian, and the navy does a bunch of research and cataloguing that's ostensibly peaceful. Everybody on both sides knows that it's quasi-military feinting and every now and then one side or the other slaps someone else's hand. This is the way of open-water diplomacy. This happened back in 2001 for many of the same reasons - China testing to see what the new administration will do in the South China Sea. They figured Bush was a cowboy with no ideas about foreign policy and the US response to the incident helped shape relations for eight years. I think we flunked this one. Unpresidented indeed.
It's as if that uncle you have, the one that makes family get togethers awkward, is President elect. He is operating on a very shallow level, intellectually and strategically. I know that people will long debate whether or not he is actually sly and only acting as such, but to me, the truth is plain to see.
Or, more specifically, as if the legislative, judicial, civil government and military structure must perform as if the executive branch has been incapacitated and coopted by a foreign power. It will be interesting to see how we perform when every foreign power and influencer of note has a "make the US do something embarrassing" button.

However, I still prefer 1Blocker for Safari, since it's probably better for privacy (instead of the plugin scanning the page on the websites you visit, 1Blocker simply defines blocking rules for the browser itself). Plus it syncs with Safari on my phone. Then again, 1Blocker isn't free, so...
