Pope Francis is a cool guy. I remember reading about his upbringing and it was interesting that he started out really radical and was actually exiled before completely reforming his belief. The contrast is so sharp it honestly makes me even more disgusted with the state of our political system. Seriously, elections in the U.S. are beginning to devolve into a reality show. People say he is just a candidate and he is never going to win, but it doesn't matter if he wins. His ideals were accepted and celebrated no matter how little. I feel slightly ashamed to be studying Political Science because of Donald Trump...
What scares me is people said similar things about George Bush in 2000. I remember a Daily Show joke ahead of the Republican National Convention that went "we nominated him as a joke, and it just took on a life of its own." A trait that seems to make Trump unelectable to some of us endears him to some voters. Apparently it's a fairly large block of voters.People say he is just a candidate and he is never going to win
I looked at it during the Bush presidency. My conclusion was I'd qualify for immigrating to Canada if I had a job offer. At least back then there was a points system. Having a college degree in a technical field was enough for me to qualify. Even still it wouldn't be easy. Moving to Portland might be easier and comforting to a degree.
The only reason I say that is because I'm hispanic (little bit of eastern European, but negligible). If Donald Trmup was voted into office off of the policy he holds on immigration, to me that states that there are large enough groups in the U.S. that really don't like Hispanic people. It would warrant at least a search for better alternatives.
The best was when conservatives said that if obamacare was instituted they'd move to Canada.
If Trump gets elected, I see it as America wanting to see what would happen if it elected an actual Reality TV Star as President. Trump would truly be President TV. I know the political scene has become one big reality tv show in recent years but it seems to be getting more and more outrageous. Before at least politicians pretended to be politicans. Now it seems like no one is wearing masks anymore.
