- The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."
Thus ends today's lesson in irony #OKGOP
I don't know, man. At this point I'm just really not sure what to think. I'm gonna listen to music and read about the Hun campaigns for a few hours/years/until I leave the country or die.
Following through with the OKGOP ... each of those deaths needs to be investigated by the state and municipal law enforcement because humans are equal to wild animals thus vehicles killing a human are just like vehicles killing a wild animal. Q.E.D.Across the U.S. vehicles hit an estimated one million to two million animals every year, the equivalent of a collision every 26 seconds, according to insurance industry records.
So they're equating those who receive food stamp assistance with animals? Damn.
Can someone explain the condlict for me. I'm happy to hear food stamps are more accessible to those in need ( or at least I assume they are if they have higher numbers this year). Animals in parks shouldn't become dependent on outside food sources because they ultimately have to fend for themselves. I feel like in missing something.. Is it implied that the post is comparing food stamp recipients to wild animals? I don't really see a connection from the post listed here. The "meanwhile" put some intent in the message of comparing the too completely different topics. When I click the link it just shows me the post so I can't see if that's how the idea was presented. I believe social welfare programs are just a way to subsidize corporate bottom lines. And if the comparison being made by that meanwhile between food stamps and policy's on feed wild animals o can understand the post. It's take some seriois cognitive discconsnce to make the too comsprable. Is that what's happening or am I missing something? Edit: after reading other links in the comment thread I guess that is the case. I'll leave my post of five dollars word but the oblivious-ness of the comparison was so over my head I couldn't see it at first.
See below, this is apparently an old joke that circles in nutty conservative circles. Still worth a post just from the sheer insanity of my source in this instance. Take that as a given for the purpose of this question, but it ain't. Yes. You're not missing anything. Can someone explain the condlict for me. I'm happy to hear food stamps are more accessible to those in need ( or at least I assume they are if they have higher numbers this year).

The "full" argument goes: We as a government are actively trying to make animals grow up and become independent of people by not giving them food (handouts). Food stamps (handouts) are the same thing, and by giving them to people they are not learning to grow up and become independent. It stops there for most GOP, but then there is the conspiracy theory that it's to enslave the human population, etc. It just kind of gets ridiculous from there. I think it's mostly a pandering to their base. Their base is just a bunch of old people who don't understand that the government has checks in place to prevent that sort of thing, and also (probably, I don't know about food stamps specifically but other programs work this way) wean you off slowly to make sure that you can get independent if you can. These people also don't understand disability at all, and think that all mental illness is just something you can snap out of. They relate their "sad" moments of life (losing their dog, their grandparents, etc), to being mentally depressed, and realize that they could get over these events so everyone else should, too, right? Most GOP that go down this trail assume that the entire human race and biology works identically for each human being, because we are the same species. Except black people and muslims, who are not quite the same species. I want to make a disclaimer, none of this is my opinion. This is just what I learned growing up in a highly conservative family.
Someone has to publish content while Colbert is away. Wasn't even OC though, damn. :(
Seems that meme has been around a while, maybe too stale for Harper’s. Here’s an instance from 2012, which you’ll enjoy for the quote from old Ben. http://godfatherpolitics.com/5917/we-need-national-park-service-take-over-food-stamp-program/
