I suspect that if the moms and grandmoms were there, it would change the conversation.

mk I'd love to see you fictionalize that conversation. Do you know anything about your great, great great, or great great great grandfathers?

I can imagine the life of one of my great grandfathers. I have a biography of him. He had 13 children. One of them was my paternal grandmother, another was my maternal grandfather. In the biography, not a word - not a single word mentions his family life.

Very little about that great grandfather, and nothing about the other two. It would make for a great short story. I'd write it so that the great great great was the least conservative of us all.

One of them was my paternal grandmother, another was my maternal grandfather.

My 2-yo daughter and her 3-yo second cousin have a cute affinity for each other, and my wife an I were just talking on that topic last night. I recall reading a study that showed that it isn't as genetically risky as commonly thought. I believe it takes multiple loops before the risks become significant.

He may well have been a wild guy. Most of the 19th century was a revolutionary time.

If he was around in the early 19th, he may have been on the streets cheering while Napoleon's armies passed through on the way to Russia.

Location, location, location. Do the K'ski's have a village from whence they came.

Hmmm. Normally I wouldn't do this, but I feel like you would want me to. I have a question. Doesn't whence mean 'from where', thus making the phrase 'from whence' redundant? Feel free to slap me down if I'm incorrect.

Indeed you know me well, at least the part of me that is standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door from whence I came.

I discovered that whence/from whence is a topic of heated debate in many circles.

Ha! Another quirk of English for which there apparently is no "right" answer. I'm sticking with the Oxford comma, the refraining of the use of 'from' in front of whence, and the right to make up words whensoever I please.

or a significant risk factor like haemophilia (royal family).

This is confusing:

Confusing. But oh-so-telling, considering how much branching it doesn't do.

Does that mean your parents were cousins, lil? If your grandparents were siblings, then their children would be cousins to each other.

My parents were first cousins. The story of how they met is here in the Shakespeare series.
