That actually sounds like... yep, that's the current formula.
There was a point in my life where I probably would have jumped at the opportunity to do this. It's a very exciting endeavor, to be out there on your own with no hope of ever coming back. I feel like the video was very depressing though. Even the cinematography and music played it up. It seems like they focused a lot on "leaving everything behind", which of course is very important. But it makes it seem like these people only want to go because they are depressed or lonely or introverted. Someone going to Mars shouldn't be so quick to do so because they feel like they can't stand people any more, they should do it because they care about exploration and research.
I'm skeptical. I want it to be real, but I'm afraid it will either a.) become one of those things that we all laugh about in 20 years, "how could we have been so naive?"; or b.) be the time we let a company launch dozens of people to their deaths in a soup can.
Ehh, Mars One is pretty much a known scam. It's not really an intentional scam, it's more of an issue of naivety and over-ambitiousness. Sure though, sign me up, I'd go. I'll miss booze and Internet.
Thanks for the post. Would be great to see a demographic break down with annual salaries and education etc. of all 200,000 people that want to go.
