So here we will discuss Fantastic Planet.
Discussion Prompts:
Here's some prompts you may respond to if you want. You, of course, don't have to respond to the prompts and can just say whatever is on your mind about the story. However if you're drawing a blank hopefully responding to a prompt will incite some meaningful discussion.
1. There's a pretty obvious critique of the treatment of animals/pests here. Would you say you're swayed at all?
2. Ok, what was your favorite creature?
Voting material for the next installment
We have a pretty nice list of previously-suggested material here to pick from, so in the interest of avoiding an overwhelming number of choices, let's vote on these picks. If you want it to be picked, try and draw others to your side in the discussion section.
Blindsight - Free to download, but not exactly short. An amazing book though and it goes by fast. Very much loaded with material to discuss.

There's a non-Will Smith version of I, Robot! Awesome! By the way, the reason I haven't commented so far in these threads is because I've found that after everyone else speaks, I've found that I have nothing left to add, but I haven't dropped out. I'm still enjoying this immensely. Rendezvous with Rama looks to be an interesting read, and I'm a big fan of Clarke, so I put in my vote for that. But then, I'm equally interested in a non-Will Smith version of I, Robot. Hmm.
He means "the book." There actually is a non-Will Smith version of I, Robot but it's a script by Isaac Asimov and Harlan Ellison that was basically killed by Star Wars: It's not a great script. The concept art is pretty dope. The Will Smith version was actually a spec script called Hardwired that they welded the 3 laws of robotics onto. If you're a fan of Clarke and you haven't read Rendezvous with Rama, that's the one you need to read. It is, in my opinion, the best book he ever wrote. I include 2001, Childhood's End, Sands of Mars, Songs of Distant Earth and Hammer of God in that list.
Rendezvous with Rama is my favorite science fiction story, second only to The Mote in God's Eye.
Oh... now I'm a little disappointed. I've heard that it's the best of Clarke's books, but I haven't found the time to read it... this is a good excuse then, we should go with that then.He means "the book." I was pretty busy this weak and didn't really get around to watching the movie. I prefer doing books over movies, easier to get through 10-30 minutes at a time. Rendezvous with Rama get's my vote. I've only read the first 3 20XX by Clarke and would enjoy reading more.
My Vote is I Robot last time I read it was 1983 time to read it again.
It was way more coherent than it was when I watched it as a kid. I remembered it as disconnected shorts we traded tapes back then so maybe it had a bunch of stuff tacked on at the end. That said the humans sure got to spaceflight in the blink of an eye.
