Nexicon - Life Emitting Diode and Theologian - Reliquaries. Lee Bartow is a machine.
Masters of the Universe made a musical
GoFight - Turn it Up. I'd really rather another Die Warzau album, but if that's not going to happen this is pretty good too.
As I mentioned on a couple "ask hubski" posts, I spent time with my father in law this weekend. He grew up a child of the 60's and 70's and has a pretty good knowledge of the music he grew up with. I was happy to introduce him to a band he'd never heard of and seems to now really enjoy. We listened to Big Star together. I had recently watched the documentary (free on Netflix btw) which I would recommend to any fans, it's called Nothing Can Hurt Me, here is a preview: Here is #1 Record in full: Great band, interesting and sad story.
Haven't watched the doc yet, but I plan to; have it in the queue. I love Big Star. It's a shame that they have such a small catalog. They actually sell two of their albums (#1 Record and Radio City) as one these days. It's worth picking up. They're both great, but I actually like Radio City better. It's opening track "O My Soul" is among my favorite rock songs ever.
Fairguson's The Blacksmith Stevie Wonder's Big Brother from Talking Book 8BitRenditions's cover of Don Henley -- The Boy's of Summer Rites of Spring For Want Of -- Link to full album ... this song starts at 04m27s.
A bit from my recent 90's kick: Mazzy Star - She's My Baby (I would've linked to the video, but the sound quality was pretty bad) Pavement - Gold Soundz Tortoise - Swung From the Gutters Plus the new Mogwai album, "Rave Tapes". I don't think it's quite as good as their last one "Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will", but it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of theirs. I know at the end of February the new Beck album is going to make an appearance. Apparently it's reminiscent of "Sea Change", which is one of my favorites.
I just found Dali, with my favorite song being Wildflowers. She is a new artists, and doesn't have much out yet at all. Here is her soundcloud, and here is her bandcamp. Another artist I recently found is Meg Mac. Here is Known Better: Here is Every Lie:
I've been listening to the new album by Actress. Also the new Mogwai and The New Mendicants Love the new Actress album. Solid, solid stuff.
Adrian Younge - Turn Down the Sound. Some funky, soulful bliss for your sunday night.
Yep. It's got DOOM all over it. He'd do it some damage :) Discovering this track led me down a worm hole of tasty grooves. Will share more soon.....
