- A study by a Chicago university sociologist of 1,200 women found that large-breasted women tend to have higher intelligence. The study divided the women into five groups ranging from virtually flat-chested to extra-large breasts.
If that's the case, then it's worth the harassment and shoulder pain, but as humanodon suggests, it hardly sounds like serious science. Of course, one could look for more information by googling "big boobs" -- which I did, and found this: Shocking new research shows almost half of young women aged 18 to 25 would prefer to have large breasts than high intelligence - with a third even saying they would gladly swap. But they are so smart, because after they trade their intelligence for bigger boobs, they get their intelligence back as it accompanies the boobs.
So what we're basically all saying is that women have two extra smaller brains in their breasts? I wonder what the correlation is for intelligent men and genitalia size, since that's the only comparison I can really think of at the moment. It'd be interesting to see if the old stereotype about dudes with small penises being smarter (or truck owners) is true (it is for people who buy hummers).
This is gross. I hope they're sample was a bunch of Ed Hardy Shirt wearing d-bags or 18 year old college kids who haven't yet figured out how to think for themselves and let the media and society decide what is appealing to them.On the other hand, only 26 percent said that the smallest size they would even consider was a B cup, while 20 percent admitted that breast size was the most important consideration they had when seeking a mate.
Usually it's whatever undergraduates they can attract for a small payment, if the researcher has grant money to burn, or students in their intro classes who will do it for extra credit if they don't. So, yes, 18 year old college kids, possibly 18 year old college kids who are getting bad grades in psyc/soc 101.
Hang on though, it doesn't say what the sampling was. Was the sample predominantly of one race or another? Were the women sampled of similar economic backgrounds? Were the women sampled of similar age? The sources provided are kind of . . . low quality. Not only that, but it uses IQ to determine intelligence, which is an arbitrary metric in the first place. Not to mention that IQ tests are supposed to be done on very young children to measure intelligence, not on adults.
Well I guess I'm fucked because I fall into the "virtually flat-chested" group. :P
Be the outlier! Show them that they're wrong! Don't let a study tell you how to act, act the way you want studies to report! If it means anything as well, when I consider the type of person I'd be happy with for the rest of my life, the most important thing is as follows. They have to be my best friend as well. I should be able to trust my wife with any secrets or feelings I have. She should be able to talk to me about anything, and I would enjoy listening. Compared to that, breast size isn't even a priority to me.
