- While Trump, who did not participate in debates for the Republican nomination, has indicated a willingness to take on his 2020 rival, the Democratic president has not committed to debating him again.
Thoughts? Do you think it will happen? If not, why not? Should RFK Jr be included?
He’s had the least number of press conferences since Reagan for a reason. The guy is not what he once was and debate was never his strong suit. He will proport to be above debating a, “traitor.” And Dems will gobble it up. We have Ukraine, inflation, Israel/palestine, AI, climate change etc. But no press conferences. No debates. Investigative journalism is dead. Bunch of sock puppets espousing scripted narratives. But at least we could see our prospective candidates debate. No more though. Sucks.
He might not debate. It might or might not be the right move. I didn't vote for him and I won't vote for him. I'm not going to be spoon fed the Steve Bannon Biden edit but you are welcome to it. You can make the same edit of Trump stumble bumming his way through speeches. Both guys are old and have lost a few steps, Biden was never a good public speaker and I don't believe that he's riddled with Alzheimer's or something, they just know that no matter what he's going to end up being edited into senility. Watch his State of the Union or the yesterdays Press dinner speech and get back to me, or keep being spoon fed the media line. He may be complicate in genocide but he isn't mentally gone.
Watched the state of the union live and I listened the correspondence dinner and to his recent Howard Stern interview. I don't follow Steve Bannon at all. I think any president should have regular press conferences, ideally with journalists that "press," them and hold them accountable. Everything you suggested I watch is highly scripted (including the Stern interview.) Bubblegum stuff. RFK Jr (you can certainly find flaws there) will have my vote. He has a platform that I largely agree with. More so than Trump or Biden. I could never vote for Trump and I can't imagine 4 more years of Biden. We are not headed in a good direction, imo and some of his proposed fiscal policies are ridiculous.
“Wow nice article!" Our goal is to positively impact each and every student that takes our course. #nclex exam for lpn
Any chance of him just ordering a hit on Trump and then claiming presidential immunity? Not even sure I'm being sarcastic anymore. Edit: I'm being sarcastic. Edit 2: Although
"News organizations beg president for income by platforming a criminal traitor to the united states"
Platforming? Presidential debates have been a norm since the 1970’s. If Trump is a criminal traitor then winning a debate against him should be fairly simple for Biden. What’s to fear?
I harbor zero qualms about violating "presidential norms" when it comes to Trump. Just returning the favor (to him). A Trump and Biden debate will proceed very much like last time. Bombastic immigration fearmongering and a long line of lies from Trump, but now with promises to pardon the J6'ers sprinkled in, and you have to wonder why he still speaks in vague generalities when it comes to policy while his people are fleshing out the most fascist shit ever conceived for the American executive branch. But hey, maybe this time Trump won't be able to attempt giving Joe Biden covid. There isn't really anything to debate, and the fact that we're asking an almost decent president to debate the worst shitbag president possibly ever is a farce. And mainstream media, jones-ing to author another boilerplate neck-and-neck horserace election narrative, has earned a lot of the blame by both-sides'ing sleepy joe with a traitorous wretch of a dirtbag human being. It's hard not to see this as yet another installation in the ongoing saga. Biden even signaling agreement to take the debate is a mistake, imo, and legitimizes Trump regardless of who "wins" the debate, because on right-wing media, Trump wins everything. Don't give him anything. And centrist/liberal media's usually a crapshoot for Biden, too. Obviously, if he's gonna engage, I hope Biden comes right out and calls Trump a traitorous asswipe to Trump's face (he won't though), not because I think it'll really change peoples' minds or because it's the right thing to do, but because BIden's just gonna be slandered regardless. Was there any credit given for Biden's generally good state of the union address in right-wing media? Nope, just accusations that he must've done cocaine. I hope Biden's up for this. I have my doubts. More broadly, this debate bro-ification of our political scene is generally terrible. It's a tactic benefiting people skilled in rhetoric and presentation (physical included), often over substance, and it favors moneyed interests legitimizing bullshit with high production quality. Like.. Dear Joe Rogan, it isn't my opinion that people landed on the moon, or that the election wasn't stolen. Just like my belief that Trump "is a traitor" isn't something I've picked up from establishment democratic talking points. It is a fact. A straight up fucking fact. Look, I'm all for subverting the establishment, but Trump ain't it. As for RFK Jr.? Nah, I don't take anti-vaxxers seriously, sorry.
