- “Just take a breath of air,” said Mr. Friesen, a professor of materials science at Arizona State University. “Take a deep breath. No matter how wealthy or poor you are, you can take a breath and own that air that you breathe. And yet water — the government brings it to you.”
HOW can you say that like it's a bad thing.
ZOMFG JUICERO WILL NEVER CEASE TO BE AMAZING Bulletproof coffee? c'mon one more and we've got a trifecta! I guess these are people that don't know about rain barrels? The most prominent proponent of raw water is Doug Evans, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur. After his juicing company, Juicero, collapsed in September, he went on a 10-day cleanse, drinking nothing but Live Water. “I haven’t tasted tap water in a long time,” he said.
“They’re health-conscious people that understand the bigger picture of what’s going on,” she said. “Everyone’s looking for an edge: nootropics, Bulletproof coffee, better water.”
Bulletproof coffee is fucking bullshit and makes me silently rage. It's not even comically amusing like Juicero. Argh.
Dude. That's the single most convincing reason for hating LA that I've heard to date.
Kindly allow me to introduce you to Sqirl. It's the "new California cooking." THAT'S NOT IRONIC, IT'S A 5-STAR REVIEWHipster to the max. If Kinfolk made a cookbook, this would be it. And the uber-hip, every-hipster-stereotype-ever photography was cringe-inducing, but the recipes...oh man, these recipes are legit. The 'famed ricotta toast' had me drooling. The avocado toast - an item that's been done and done over again - was reinvented and refreshed, with savory elements I would have never though to add. And I am SO excited to make some brown rice porridge when the weather gets cooler.
unprocessed water. That's almost as bad as canned 'fresh' air. not to mention that Hetch Hetchy water is actually delicious.Raw water is such a nascent business that there’s debate over what exactly to call the liquid. Daniel Vitalis hosts a podcast, “ReWild Yourself,” that promotes hunting for food and gathering water; he started the site called FindASpring.com to help people locate springs. He prefers the term “unprocessed water,” which echoes the idea of processed versus unprocessed food.
There's lots of delicious water in the world; the problem hits when it has to go through municipal waterworks systems that leech into it. LA tapwater tastes primarily like LA pipes. My water up here is a lot closer to the source so it tastes a lot more like water. Growing up, our water was from a 100m year old aquifer but it ran through a system hurried in by the Army Corps of Engineers. It was kinda tragic because it tasted like giant metal water tanks.
