My BF's brother dropped out of high school a few years back, and was struggling with what to do with his life for a little while. I taught him some basic shit about production / gave him some music lessons, and he finally put out his first EP yesterday. I've been helping him mix/master it for the past few weeks, and I contributed some of the beats to it (tracks 2 and 5, here's some older beats of mine if anyone's interested).
It's short and a little rough around the edges, but he's proud of it, and I am really happy for him.
If you've got 15 minutes and want to hear a 19 yr old a-rap-rap-rappin, give it a listen.
Yes and no. I normally put all my beats/electronic-y music under the name "Kells". I told the rapper on this (nah kid) that I was going to make a project called "Hard Bop Telethon", he thought that was my new producer name, made references to it in his raps, and I didn't have the heart to correct him.
I admittedly don't know much about the current state of hip-hop, but I know what I like. I like this. The music is great, super chill and positive. Great vibes from this. Well done, teach.
