They also seem to take simple concepts and make them sound complex as fuxk, so it really seems to go both ways.

(Source, took an ethics class in college and finished more confused about ethics than when I started.)

My ethics class in college could basically be summed up with: Things aren't black and white, there will always be a grey area, but stepping into that area could cost you a lot of fucking money so just pretend they're black and white.

First thought was that other than the elderly the person could just move out of the way of the oncoming vehicle. I mean it's a few steps in either direction to safety for all those people.
