- The Aedes aegypti mosquitoes really suck — literally and figuratively.
They're really good at finding and sucking on human blood. Which especially sucks, because their inescapable, insidious little bites can infect people with the Zika virus as well as dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever.
oh gosh i forgot that the column is called goats and soda so i was confused as to why they didn't explain why goats and soda make your feet more attractive to mosquitos....

I did not know that different types of microbes gather on different parts of out bodies. Or that is what mosquitoes were targeting.
This post reminded me of the summer I went tree planting in Northern Ontario. The number of bugs was incredible and some people would soak themselves in deet, wear netting over their heads, long sleeves taped to their gloves, long pants taped to their boots..... and would still get bitten many times a day.
Luckily for me I apparently have the "wrong" kind of microbes and mosquitoes and black flies are not that attracted to me so after just a little spray I could go shirtless and still not really get bitten.
