An epic is scope and length, this three and a half hour masterpiece is one of the most acclaimed films of all time, featuring great characters and one of the most intense action sequences in cinema.

I loved how beautiful it was. I geeked out about it the entire time.
Yeah, you were spot on in relating Seven Samurai to the "Every Frame a Painting" post. Kurosawa is a master of creating an intense atmosphere and a "picture is worth 1000 words" image in every frame. That said, a vast chunk of the first half of the film has very little camera movement which I think is fantastic. It focuses the viewers attention on the story and character development, and takes away that distraction.
