From where does the United States get its oil? Name the top 3, 5 or 10 importers, depending on your confidence.
What percentage of the oil we use is domestic (that is, from the States)? 10, 25, 50, 75 or 100 percent?
Another subject on which I feel a lot more confident until I actually try to come up with an answer. Without research, I'll say the United States produces 40% of the petroleum it consumes, mostly in Alaska and the Gulf region. The top import source is Canada. Number two is Mexico. Number three is maybe Saudi Arabia, and Russia and Nigeria are probably in the top ten. Venezuela is a big exporter but I guess the U.S. isn't buying. Iraq is probably still a trickle.
Canada (by far) Saudi Arabia Venezuela Mexico Colombia Looks like ButterflyEffect takes home the prize. Incidentally, the United States domestically produces something like 55 percent of its oil.
Guessing public opinion would have been a good test too.
Top 3 (Fairly confident) Saudi Arabia Canada Venezuela Next 7 (Not so confident) Colombia Argentina Iraq Kuwait Mexico? Uhhhh....Jordan? Uhhhhhhhhhh..........do we import from Russia? I dunno, Russia. They have lots of LNG so maybe they have oil too. Domestic Percentage We produce a lot of oil so I'm going to guess between 1/3 and 1/2 of our oil is domestic.
