Dude, I can't think of any new bands that I know of that will scratch the same itch as Goodness, but damn if they don't sound extremely Zeppelin-esque. Have you spent a lot of time listening to Zep? Some bad-ass rifferery and the kings of hard rock blues: Old Sabbath? Something about them reminded me a bit of Helmet too. Not sure why: Really, anyone asking for intro's to hard rock, gets a Fugazi from me: Also, that J. Roddy Walston track made me think of Adam Green's Festival Song, it's also a playful track, with some big background vox etc. I dig this live version. HIs music is pretty polarizing though, people either dig it or hate it. I like it. Patrick Sweany - I dug this. thanks. Can't pass up an opportunity to plug what I think is one of the best live and recorded rock bands out there: Hope this was helpful. Thanks for the introductions to some new music.
Man, Led Zeppelin is the reason all these bands even exist. I've gone through Led Zeppelin I over and over again, it's gotta be my favorite as a complete album. Just picked up IV for a good listening, but Black Dog is the only thing that shines through for me there– apart from Stairway to Heaven, of course.
I don't know Fugazi. I've heard about them so many times, and I've never heard their songs. Ever. Holy shit this is sick:D Thank you. Love me some Sabbath. I was hanging with metalheads for a large part of my summer; they talked about Ozzy almost as much as they talked about Satan. All great suggestions. Honestly people are posting such good shit now I feel bad about the bands I posted. I was just trying to show the core instrumentation and sound of what I was looking for, and I got way better from you, so thank you.
Dude. dude. When The Levee Breaks is so damn amazing. It's the music to drive by, tapping the steering wheel to the rhythm of the drums, driving until the sun goes down. Goin' down, goin' dowwwwnnn... Black Dog is the only thing that shines through for me there
oh god how could I forget. I feel like a traitor :S
Yep, one of the best drum tracks ever. Love the sound of it. Also, Going to California is pretty damn awesome: Also, Misty Mountain Hop? Pretty kick ass ode to hobbits: Though, it does seem that they're now the best cover band of all time.
Glad you got something out of it. The bands you posted sounded great and were a good way to direct the conversation. ghostoffuffle, what ever happened to the progressive mixes you started where someone picks a track and then people add to it etc? That was cool. Did it fizzle out?
Fizzled. Think the last one got two submissions not including my own, and three songs does not a mixtape make. Too bad, thought it had promise.
