Time for our weekly discussion thread and I hope you all we're able to watch and enjoy The Fisher King. I unfortunately didn't get to watch the entirety of the movie I jumped in where Parry first kissed Sondra and was filled in after that. (Should I block out spoilers in the discussion thread?) Anyways I thought the movie had a remarkably sweet ending, everyone was happy! And I plan on watching the entire movie before our next film.
What do you all think of it? Is it as good watching it the second, third, fourth time as some of you have seen it previously.

Let me start by saying that this film is gorgeous. The cinematography is interesting (the train station dance scene), and the set design has so many little intricaties (the Basement where Harry lives, for example). But those of you who were riding the nostalgia train for this film are gonna hate me - I didn't like the movie. I couldn't even finish it. I got to just after the part where they go on the date, and i shut it off. I don't mind the unoriginal storyline (it's not the destination, it's how you get there), I just couldn't be convinced to follow the characters through the Ordinarys and Propers. Maybe I missed something, or maybe it improves greatly after where I stopped, Idunno. Maybe I'm just not in it for happy endings?
In my opinion, it's a film about forgiveness. Forgiving others and forgiving yourself. There's a lot of healing going on in this movie. I think the acting is fantastic and the imagery is beautiful. _refugee_, if you have a friend like Perry, I would count you pretty lucky!!
I'm not too sure exactly what I would cut because every storyline adds something to the story. Maybe there are too many story lines? The girl Parry likes, the main characters career/remorse/girl problems, the holy grail, the boys beating the homeless, the bonding between Parry and our main guy... Maybe it's just that I don't really like long movies. I feel like Titanic could have been cut in half and be a better movie. I had trouble feeling interested until the end.
