I will give up sex before I give up meat and cheese. If I am going to die from cancer for loving meat and cheese, so be it.
Inflammatory title, but useful discussion and study. Once you get away from the hype, they're recommending a 10-18% protein diet. By way of comparison, MyFitnessPal, which I'm pretty sure just parrots the FDA, suggests 20%. So it's not like they're saying OMG CUT ALL PROTEIN they're saying "you probably should eat less than the Beef Council suggests."
You know, it's funny. I read somewhere that cutting red meat down to twice a week was like stupendously good for the body and the environment, can't even remember where or why. So I limit my red meat to once or twice a week. As a consequence, when I eat beef it counts... and when I eat beef it's delicious. I also try to do a meal or two a week vegetarian. It makes the vegetarianism of it all the tastier. So I can see the appeal in limiting protein rather than going vegetarian. After all, most asian societies use meat like a garnish.
