Poembeat - Soul is an ambient album with an awful title by a band with an awful name, but the music is groovy.
Enbilulugugal - Noizemongers For Goatserpent is a re-release with some added material.
I think I am probably the last person in the world to learn that Medicine did a new album
I recently discovered a sweet fuzz band called Bailterspace. AshShields, have you heard of these guys? They're from NZ and have been on Flying Nuns before. I've also been super stoked on the latest and greatest release by Diarrhea Planet (don't let the name scare you). This band is also known as my favorite band that uses 4 guitarists live. They absolutely melt faces live, I saw them a couple of weeks ago.
Ooh, yes, I know Bailterspace quite well. My uncle is a huge fan, so I listened to them quite a bit growing up. Saw them play their first show in ages earlier this year. Pretty good, though if you're seeing them live and you're really close to the speakers and you don't have earplugs you're totally screwed... Couldn't hear shit, really. They have a reputation for playing loud for a very good reason.
I just sent off an article on a new local electronic duo called Ophelia. Pretty sweet music, nice people. One in a growing trend of folk artists moving to electronic stuff (a trend I really fucking love). On a similar note, my friend/music-mate/label-mate just released a short little EP. The National Loop - Tea Soup. Nice downbeat electronica with jazzy influences (he's at jazz school and most of his music stems from a folk background) and an awesome Portishead sample.
I was back home in Michigan this weekend and my father had recently bought some new records. We sat around and listened to some Sam Cooke last night. It was a very enjoyable experience.
I'm not sure if it's a guilty pleasure or what, but I've been listening to a lot of David Hasslehoff
