This is good.
I really like this song. They just released an album as well.
Not a big fan of the EL VY record. The funky guitar and bass riffs and downplayed synth lines in the background is the type of music that's being done over and over and over again right now, not that there's anything inherently wrong with that but it's quickly becoming a tired sound. Plus, I don't think Berninger's voice is well suited for this kind of upbeat music without a more orchestral and sparse accompaniment. The lyrics are a bit difficult to get through too, it's got the typical overtly self-consciousness that can be found with all of The National's releases, but they fall flat for me, some of these lines are trying a bit too hard to be clever (see the first verse).

-I dig the lyrics a lot. I also enjoy this song more than any National song I can think of. His voice works really well in this song imo. There are times with The National that I swear he's doing a Crash Test Dummies impersonation.
Eh, to each their own then. I'm a big fan of everything by The National up to High Violet and then things start to get iffy. I completely disagree with the Crash Test Dummies comparison, because one, that band is terrible, and two, yeah they both have the baritone thing going on but that's where any similarities begin and end. Berninger is more of a Nick Cave than anything else.
