Watch this. Thanks to jonaswildman for getting me started down the Reggie Watts youtube wormhole I just spent the last 30 minutes in.
Great stuff
There's a great little day in the life piece on Jash that you will like. Probably the coolest thing about Reggie is that he transcends genre and is liked by basically everybody. This gives him an incredible amount of flexibility for outlet. Also, I just simply love his hair. Dude clearly has an agenda towards perception and bias. He is a true living artist.
dude's real cerebral. the way he treats his audience is awesome, they're basically his guinea pigs. In a good way, though. not unlike Stravinsky or someone like that.
I saw him live recently and although I was sitting waaaay in the back of the stadium, I felt like I was right there with the guy as an audience member. It's definitely a journey he's taking you on and you get the feeling that he's not even sure where he's going. He's a badass.
I get that, too. Last night I listened to 'Why Shit So Crazy' for the first time and got pretty sucked into it.
This man is incredibly talented. Had the pleasure of seeing him live once. Not only is he a musical genius, but his intellect is supreme as well!
Yeah, I recently saw him for the first time and I hope not the last. Wonderful performer. I recently played this TED talk for my wife who had never heard of him before. At the end I asked, "so, what do you think?" Her response, "I'm not sure yet." I told her that that was the perfect response. I immediately liked him, but it's not always easy to digest if you're trying to completely "figure it out."
I hadn't seen that one, it was great. They ALL are. After that one I ended up listening to his brilliant cover of an early version of the Van Halen song Panama Apparently, they're not so cool with the copyright....
Yeah, I checked that one out too. Dude is so talented. I watched a bunch of these before watching Comedy Bang! Bang! I get that people need day jobs, but it seems like a guy like that could carry his own show. Also, I'm not a fan of the "awkward" humor that seems to be in vogue at the moment. It's so contrived and cartoonish in the way that Zippy is cartoonish. Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but I know what I like and that ain't it. Reggie Watts though? All day.
