Poppa-ooo-ma-mow-mow! littlebirdie is alive and slinging coffee in NM, and looking forward to returning to Hubski.
You may have noticed that she was posting a poem a day for a while, then wrote that she had gotten a bad flu and would be taking a hiatus and then just never returned. Many users on Hubski reached out to her via shout-outs and some of us even emailed her to make sure her flu didn't take a turn for the worse.
As it turns out, little birdie's computer decided to go up in flames. She is in the process of saving for a new one. She emailed me and wrote
- "I still love and adore Hubski and look forward to reconnecting with you and everyone there."
So my question to you all: Does anyone have a spare computer? littlebirdie rocks, and while she doesn't strike me as the kind of person that would ask for help, we can all use it now and again.
insomniasexx, steve, lil, JakobVirgil, b_b, mk -shout out to all the people that I know inquired as to littlebirdies well being.
Not really relevant to the discussion, but listen anyway.
Now I'm always reminded of this when I hear it.
First of all, love the tag. Second, thanks for the update. mk gave me a laptop that died, but there's possibility I could rehab it to send it off (with his permission of course, as its not really mine). Comes up with a non-system disk error on startup and won't go any further. Any computer people familiar with a phantom non-system disk error? briandmyers, akkartik, or anyone?
Sound like a HD problem (can't boot off the hard drive, maybe?). If you have a system disk, try booting from that (but you probably don't). An Ubuntu boot disk might also let you access it.
Looks like fun. Hubski loves you too insom. Hope the next morning wasn't too hard on you. I'm trying to get back in touch with LB to see if she is interested in any of these generous offers. It's difficult since she doesn't have a computer though. I'll let you all know.
Man! I have a desktop but it's so old I'm not certain it could even handle an internet connection! I'll keep an eye out, but if all she needs it for is browsing maybe we could do a contribution thing and get her a Chromebook?
Why try get some cash together when people have already made offers to pass on a computer? Surely the postage will be cheaper. I just like the idea of things being passed on to a home that needs it, maybe a bit of attention and good to go. We don't fix enough things in our throw away society. Send littlebirdie the T500 AND the black mac, surely one will be good enough.
My place of work might have one. Albeit it's not a great one, but it works. I'll talk to my boss tomorrow at work and see if it'd be alright to take.
