The concert for Bangladesh is great from beginning to end, you made a good selection with Wah-Wah! George Harrison is easily my favorite member of The Beatles. He put together such great music, and really just killed everything that he performed on (in a good way). It's a shame he died so young, I can't imagine what he would have put out if he got to be McCartney's age. If any of you haven't listened to his album All Things Must Pass, I would recommend doing so. It's a masterpiece.

John is my unquestioned hero of the Beatles, but I prefer George's solo stuff to any of the others. John had some decent things, Ringo is kind of a joke, and Paul I can't even listen to (which is odd, because Paul wrote some of my favorite Beatles stuff: Helter Skelter, Blackbird, I've just seen a Face, etc, etc).

The Beatles are easily my greatest influence musically and George is such a big part of that. Watching his growth as a songwriter in the Beatles and after is such a fantastic thing. You can literally hear the confidence in his songs growing. If you've not read Here There and Everywhere by Geoff Emerick, I HIGHLY suggest it. I may have already mentioned this to you or flagamuffin in the past as I tend to do so anytime the Beatles are mentioned. It's that good.

According to Emerick, George was a really insecure guitarist but really came in to his own towards the end of the Beatles, watching this performance it's evident that he's pretty damned secure in his abilities by this point. Knowing how much effort and money he put in to the Concert for Bangladesh, it's impressive that he's able to perform so effortlessly. The guy had a lot riding on this concert. He was a rare breed, a truly gifted person. Like you, I wish I could have heard the music he didn't have a chance to make.

I will definitely have to read that. Going to check if my college's library has it, doubtful, but it's worth a shot.

Good luck, hope they have it. It's worth searching for.

He was the steadiest Beatle. And it's amazing, because of course George had far and away the most interesting solo career. All Things Must Pass measures up with The Beatles' albums.
